Was just going to say that they should have push bumpers like in the U.S..

They aren't very human friendly though...

there's a prog on UK TV currently called Cop car garage which shows them dealing with the repair of damaged cars and the building of specialist vehicles, it's worth looking out for.

    It's on Dave.

If they are hit bad they are sold off.

Cop Car Workshop for anyone who may be trying to find it on BT....Think the dash cam car running into the back of it was a bit gratuitous all the same. Hopefully it doesn't catch on in Ireland or the country will go broke from the GS whiplash claims...

That's one thing I liked about Road Wars, they didn't take any **** and just rammed the feckers.

Imagine the whiplash claims! Yeah I stole a €50,000 Golf R and used it in an armed robbery, then broke every law under the sun speeding, driving down the wrong side of the road nearly killing innocent road users but then I got rammed and now have soft tissue damage in my arse, that will be €100,000 please! Then they get a 6 month suspended sentence...

Hardly. It was just in a high speed pursuit. Car was boxed in already by the ramming cop car at the front so dash cam was boxing it in at the back. It’s how they work, don’t need the speed demons trying to make an escape

Of course they needed to block the car from the rear, didn't need to run into it in order to block it though, hence gratuitous.

Typical dashcam thread comment. Everyone is wrong.:(

I would rather the getaway car and a cop car be destroyed then for them to continue and kill an innocent member of the public.

It's all to do with risk.

T pac is another but tends to involve at least 3 cars to stop the getaway car.

They did the right thing to end it.

    Warsaw.
The guy ran the stop sign, I had right of way.
Smacked into the side of him.
    Damage is:

    Door bent
    Bumper destroyed
    Xenons smashed and pushed in
    Tyre punctured
Wing completely torn to the point it looks like someone took a can opener to it
The trim near the windscreen has popped out so I think potential bent frame
    Bonnet fecked
And it was pissing oil from I think the intercooler

Rough estimate from the recovery lad was about 4k euro worth of damage.
Guy has no insurance or nct.
Police called and he admitted fault so he has had his car taken off of him.
Given a 120e fine and they are waiting to get final confirmation he has insurance or not cause suddenly he said he has insurance but waiting for the documents to come. Police were sceptical.
He tried to offer me 1k euro to simply let him go so i told him not a chance.
Gutted isn't even the right word.

    Sorry to hear that.

UFG (Polish equivalent of MIBI) has online access to insurance database.
I checked his number plate and it shows no insurance, but it might be due to various reasons. (f.e. data not updated, or mistake in data).
It's quite uncommon in Poland for someone to drive with no insurance, but I believe it happens.

    You can check here: https://ufg.pl/infoportal/faces/pages_home-page?_afrLoop=6844949978922577&_afrWindowMode=0&_adf.ctrl-state=19pvpr5353_155

Anyway - if he was not insured, then UFG is the institution you can claim from.

Although we regularly engage in a good game of coulda, woulda, shoulda on this thread, it's usually a vid from the internet or it was just a close call.
In this case I think we should be mindful that it's one of our thread's regular posters involved and he's possibly facing having to pay for all or most of the damages out of his own pocket.
He'll know better than any of us if he could have done something differently.

No he won't. If driver really had no cover, then OP can claim from UFG (equivalent of MIBI).

Thanks for that and luckily it can be English too.
What I'm wondering is does this particular group also write off vehicles or do they simply repair it?

Interesting what people, even trained professionals, do when they panic.
How was taking off his hat going to help him get out of the way?

How could you not know this! He's like all cops, once he doesn't have his hat on he's no longer officially a cop so he can get the &*^% out of there!

The cam car had his side of the road clear

Clear of parked cars maybe, but the oncoming car already proceeded passed the first of the parked cars.

There were a couple of places where the cam car could have stopped opposite a gap allowing the cars to pass normally, but instead he drive right up to the other can and then mounted the pavement.

they are either an aggressive idiot, or have very poor awareness.

For me the oncoming car should have given way but lets say he did commit himself before he realised, he still had an opportunity to pull back in to his side of the road after he passed the first parked car.

Oncoming car was already committed and there was no room to pull in, cam car should have given way instead of planning for YT submission by trying to play the victim card

I have forensically examined this video and there is ample room for the oncoming car to pull in right after he passed the first parked car

Thought the same myself but on my phone so wasn't sure.
Oncoming car should have seen the cam car from the start anyway.
