Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All
Just seen this on the journal I have always been curious what the inside of this old station looks like and this VR tour looks well.

    http://www.thejournal.ie/broadstone-station-vr-tour-3836271-Feb2018/

I have been inside the building during "Open House" weekend, it is a fine place, although one year a guide kept getting mixed up about Midland Great Western, saying Great Midland and Western instead.

The Journal also makes mistakes, saying the last train departed in 1961, but that was the last locomotive, as it was a steam depot until then. The last real train left in 1937. The stationmaster was transferred to Westland Row, along with the Midland trains, presumably other staff moved to all sorts of places.

Well, thanks to "BXD", that station's out of the running for an alternate terminus for Maynooth, Sligo and Westport trains. IE wanted to reopen it for that purpose too, to alleviate the often-talked-about congestion at Connolly.

A heavy rail into Broadstone coonecting with an underground network to city centre and Heuston would provide a far superior service, but as you said, sacrificing it in favour of the cheap option was the choice of successive short-sighted governments.

The last stationmaster came from Mayo. He was grandfather to my cousin's husband. There ya go :)
