McDonalds in Celbridge

Does anyone know if the McDonalds beside Tesco is going ahead? I thought the planning permission was passed a while back, but no sign of any work there.

That's from two years ago but surely it would have been in media if turned down again?

Planning was signed off on a second attempt (with some modifications)... but it looks like they are just sitting on that for now.

i phoned mcdonalds hq to ask about when are they going to build in celbridge last year, got a english woman on the other end of the phone she said she did not know.

Hahahahaha... you actually phoned up the HQ office to ask this, got through to a receptionist that said she had no idea? I am quite surprised she was not fully aware of all planned expansions.

With Tesco putting in planning permission for a separate cafe in the car park, that's probably the end of McD's plans?
Does anyone know why this was pulled?

Planning report states that this application is a replacement for the drive-thru restaurant which is not proceeding for commercial reasons.

So that means no McDonalds at that location and instead you will have Starbucks/Costa/Insomnia

New building is also about 30% smaller than what was proposed.

Overpriced isn't something that springs to mind tbh.
Nothing wrong with an occasional visit, but now instead we are getting another coffee shop.
I wonder could they fit another barbers and chemist in there somewhere.
