He spits on the ground and goes back to his horse.

"He looks like he was once one of your kind, but I do not know his homeland. Our shaman says he is always chasing."

Reed rides out from the family, lest he lose his temper at them.

He heads up the trail a little way, stops and waits for the others and lights a smoke.

"Thank you kind sir, have a good day." Silas nudges his cart onwards, along the trail.

As the group rides on, they notice ahead of them a swarm of locusts, each as big as a small cat.

The locusts form themselves into a whirlwind and begin lashing out at the posse.

    OOC: Combat.

The locust swarm moves around forming itself into a tight ball in preparation for the strike.

Seizing the chance, Silas fires, bursting most of the locusts within the ball, followed shortly by Reed riding over with his horse and punching the remaining locusts.

The few left scatter into the desert sky.

Reed cleans off the locust juice from his fists on Lysette's skirt.

Silas notices, just barely visible in the canyon soil, the trail of two horses.

He also notices a couple of places where the rocks look unstable. He'll be able to avoid them on the ride south.

Reed climbs back on his horse, smirking at Lysette.

'Where to next? Give me some more things to punch, ayuh. I could learn to like you folk'

    OOC: Ye riding out?

OOC: Thought we were already riding southbound, past the boulders.

Silas reloads his gun and rides southbound, being careful to avoid the unstable boulders. (following the tracks)

The posse ride south into a box canyon.

Up ahead they see the corpse of a horse being feasted on by a cloud of flies, as some carrion birds silently watch. Near the horse is the slumped body of a man.

Reed rides ahead to the horse corpse and checks out the area.

Silas feels unsettled being in the box canyon, he scouts the perimeter whilst Reed checks out the corpse.

I search the area where the locusts attacked us

Silas wonders if that is Hanks body. Do we bury him or bring the corpse back to the sherrif. The thoughts of the corpse riding in the back of his cart sends a shiver down his spine.

Lysette checks out the flies, horse and associated maggots. Saying something that would require me to have not uninstalled that translator. Mwen Foo!

The horse is about half consumed at this point.

The man has an eye patch over his right eye. What had been his remaining eye had been shot through by his killer. A cruel way to kill a man. Part his overcoat shows the signs of a sewn on badge having been ripped off. Another set of footprints lead away NorthWest.

Reed calls to the others and shows them his findings.

'Coulda been our sheriff, ayuh, mayhap it was.'

Silas is able to follow the other persons tracks all the way until they, confusingly, terminate right next to a boulder in the canyon wall. However from climbing up to the boulder he sees on the other side a path leading onward to a ranch house.
