I am trying to sign up to Eir but it says my IBAN is wrong. It is not. It is a German IBAN (n26 bank account).

    Is this a known issue?

I have been notified that there has been issues when using anything other than an Irish IBAN.

I will be sure to forward this on to the relevant department, but there is no immediate fix for this, unfortunately.

I'm sorry it's not better news.

    Thanks

    Thomas

So what can I do? Can I ring up to pay? Pay by debit card?

I’m sure Eir are aware this is against EU regulations. Do I need to go down the formal complaints procedure as with Leap Card ( who now have until April to be compliant)?

    Report it. They deserve it.

I have to go through the normal procedure with eir before escalating.

You should be able to set it up, but this will be up to our credit vetting department to approve.

What error message are you getting?

    Thanks

    Thomas

It is saying please enter a valid IBAN. It is a valid German  SEPA IBAN which I use for all other bills.

    Hi jasongoodbody,

    Sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

I would recommend clicking on the link below and downloading the direct debit mandate form which you can fill in and send back.

We will then be able to manually set this up for you.

    https://www.eir.ie/signupfordirectdebit/

    Thanks,

    Sarah

It won’t let me complete the online order though.

    Hi there.

    Thanks for your answer.

Apparently, this is still a bug in your application. The solution that eir provides from customer service is for them to send you a letter requesting the bank details, so they can check that the account is yours.

It takes longer, but it might be possible.

Thanks anyway, let's see how it goes.
