xbox one games mic

my sons xbox one games mic just died(the one that came with it) yesterday.he can hear the players but they cant hear him so i presume the mic is gone,
can someone recommend a not to expensive replacement for it?
is the official one the way to go or not?

does his controller have the 3.5mm headphone jack?

you could also upgrade to an actual headset where the game sound would also come through for about €37
