Nice RTE forecast, snow showers practically guaranteed from Monday night onwards by the looks of it.

Where exactly is it guaranteed in did they say or was a general guarantee ?

Verrryyyyy longtime lurker, first time poster here.

I'm hoping what is being predicted here actually materialises - I've made some serious claims to friends over the last two days!

Sure if it doesn't they will probably call you a feck wunker

15 minutes earlier :pac:, well I guess any timing upgrades are good.

Thanks MT, sorry to ask but as a novice - what does that mean for next week?
The arctic high I have been tracking is now 1048 mbs over Franz Josef Land and the latest analysis shows that "dead low" moving ahead of it over northern Finland at a nearly extinct 1026 mbs.

Though I’m not hopeful of snow here in west sligo I’m certainly prepared. Got in plenty of fuel yesterday and did a big shop today. Dug out my clothing last used when I visited Siberia in February 2006 ðŸ˜

Ditto - just dug out the Artic clothing (normally kept in storage vacuum bags). Fuel and food. Beer & whiskey too. Trying to plan what to do with the horses that were to be turned out - keep in or leave out and see how it goes? All other stock housed. Feels a bit like one of those American western movies where the ranch is about to get buried in snow drifts ;)

I knew it was fake. Honest.

I was just trying to catch out other suckers. Not me.

    I'm not a sucker.

The east looks set for snow alright. But it's a particular type of snow - Easterly snow generated from convection in the Irish Sea.

The West could see snow if the winds turns Northerly, as was modelled on the GFS last night.
Another route to snow for the West is if a front from the south or west moves up and meets the cold air.

There's definitely a chance for the West in the coming week or so

We got great snow in Mayo Jan 2010 I think from a streamer running from donegal bay to killala bay so could be interesting in West aswell.

The BBC said a "chilly" week ahead.........

I don't think chilly is the word for it.

You're dead right. You just wouldn't want to be relying on streamers that far wesht.

This seems to be a Go now at this stage. I reckon it's time to split this thread to a dedicated technical thread and a Chat thread. Mods?
