Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Erasmus+ = Erasmus in all ways that matters. Think Erasmus 2.0.

Of the many participants I know not one has regretted it. No brainer.

Erasmus+ in Ireland is administered and funded by Leargas, not by educational institutions (although some universities and colleges do exchanges through Erasmus+).

Erasmus+ is not Erasmus 2.0, it's a seperate programme with different funding sources and criteria.

The main agencies and organisations who deal with Erasmus+ programmes in Ireland are the youth work organisations like Foroige, Youth Work Ireland, Crosscare, and independant youth clubs around the country.

If you're based in Galway and your daughter is interested in getting involved with an Erasmus+ project, you can call, drop into or email Youth Work Ireland Galway's head offices on Prospect Hill in the city centre and they will give you all the information you'd ever need.

Where as an Erasmus programme would involve spending a semester in another European university, the Erasmus+ Programme is a voluntary service where volunteers would spend from a few weeks to 1 year volunteering with a community based youth organisation in another EU member country, non-EU European country (Norway, Switzerland, etc) or Neighbouring partner country (Turkey, Morocco, etc).

They could be doing anything from working in a youth club to helping run theatre or community gardening programmes for long term trips or attending training courses or group cultural exchanges for short term trips.

Host organisations (where ever you go) will be funded by the Commission, through the Erasmus+ programme to provide accommodation + a small living allowance to the volunteer (your daughter) and there are terms and conditions they have to meet to ensure your daughter's welfare is a priority and she's actually gaining something educationally and personally from the experience.

It's an amazing and massively under-utilised programme and would be a fantastic option for any young person who was interested in spending time abroad experiencing a new culture and gaining new competencies.
