This was the bread aisle in Tesco in Midleton earlier.

If I’m ever making a zombie movie in the emerald isles I must remember that the first thing to go in is the bread.

The much discussed Eagle forecast is up here now (at 1:29:10)

    http://www.rte.ie/radio1/drivetime/

I think it has been a bit over dramatised in here, not as negative as I expected at all, mentioned disruptive snow from the system Thurs/Fri but indeed quite bullish about it turning to rain on Fri. No big deal imo this far out.

Just listened into it now. Nothing like the negativity that was posted on here. Mentioned 10 to 12 inches of snow, a sustained spell of snow from the south, however snow may turn to rain on friday.

    Looks very serious.

And that's the last time I take anyone's word for something without personally seeing/hearing/watching it. If that's the most negative forecast there is then I'd be very sure of some severe weather coming.

Snowcoplyse hits Aldi Clonee. Milk and bread gone. All fresh salad gone. Veg not far behind. Slight fall of small flakes around 8.

So do you think if MT's forecast comes to fruition that a level red warning will be issued? I don't know what they would consider level red. Would love an ol' snow day from work

I thought it was the TV3 thingy that people were talking about?

I know we're getting greedy now but the 12inches from this sytem may as well not exist if it falls after we go to bed and has turned to rain before we wake back up in the morning.

John Eagleton in that forecast mentions up to 12 INCHES from those snow streamers in the east. Was he meant to say CM?

The RTE piece was the forecast. The TV3 piece was an interview that caused all the madness and unhelpful drama.

Timing could be everything though, I think.

Less likely to fall as rain with cooler night temperatures, I'd have thought.

"Go to bed" during a blizzard? I'll be getting every last flake out of this cold period, god knows when we'll see one again!

South Dublin store sells out of bread, milk and spuds as 'Storm Emma' approaches
A south Dublin supermarket has completely sold out of bread, milk and spuds as locals prepare for the worst of 'Storm Emma'.

The Dunnes Stores in Kilnamanagh, Tallaght was cleared out of the everyday essentials at 5pm this evening.

An ill wind and all that .. good for business. Maybe its all fake, pushed by commercialism :D

Kent is closer to sea than London.

Worth it for me..if I know there will be a blizzard thursday night and melting friday morning guess who will not be sleeping that night :)

What I don’t understand is if this blizzard is due Thursday night and there is a rapid thaw on Friday morning, won’t all the snow be gone fairly quickly? It’s not like it is going to lie on the ground for two or three days.

+1 on that, I wondered as I was listening to it had he also done an interview of something. I don't understand all the talk of ME forecasters being at odds with each other
