The red alert is active since 5am this morning so no, it's not just for things that may happen after now. It's an active event for nearly 3 hours. Do you get that part?

Its simply not justified and is a case of over the top forecasting.

So if 10cm falls between now and 12pm and everyone is in school and work, do you think it's safe for them to go? Especially if the public transport will cease operations today if it gets to that point.

No, of course not. The red warning is for the FUTURE event happening today. It's simply there for everyone's best interests and safety.

Second rogue snow shower here in tipp, like the first it seemed to beef up as it approached us from the east. 15 cms here now, greatest snowfall I have ever witnessed and I was not expecting anything here today.

    Blizzard in east Galway
    Place covered in minutes
Driving conditions will be hazardous for next few days but we are not covered by red or even orange so Work and schools will open
    Great fun

We have a 200mm snow fall, 300mm in drifts. (Wicklow/Kildare border) and more snow being dumped on us now.

Not impressed with Met E in regards to the south of the country, particularly Limerick. We are not included in any of the warnings active at the moment, but we are also waking up to the white stuff this morning??

Fine. In 24hrs and 48hrs I'll reply and it'll still have been an overblown warning that was never in the league of a red alert.

Not much more snow over night for me(Southeast wexford) but still have every bit of Snow that fell yesterday so it's lovely and white out.
Our schools are closed, buses won't run. I wouldn't drive in it anyways.

Big dumping of snow here in Deep South Roscommon, was not expecting this, never seen snow as powdery before. Rang the lads, everyone off work.

Nothing that has happened until now justifies a red alert, the alert if for what is going to happen. Righty or wrongly I guess they expect today won't be as bad in Limerick as in other parts fo the country.

Yes Wexford orsnge warning seems over the top , while inland counties should have been included
