Yeah a LOT of people seem to think it should have all kicked off today.

Read the forecast people. Thursday and Friday is where it’s at.

    2 days? We're doomed.

Back in the 70's we had plenty snow and everyone survived. Many people had no fridges, freezers etc, cars were back wheel drive so crap to drive in snow. No warnings and everyone coped. snow was up to a foot deep and drifts up to 4 feet. Are people nowadays gone soft?

bale of briquettes is your only friend, heat will radiate and coal will last longer. Big bag of blocks would be nice too but not as much heat. Different if you're using a stove but on an open fire briquettes will help keep the heat going and fire last longer.
Both sold out anywhere I’ve looked. Just got some fire-bags and a trolleyful of wood

I have a critical decision. Make 3x kids lunches for school tomorrow now? Will it be wasted if I make now and schools close. Will I be too lazy later this eve and end up rushing tmw am, if schools open.

    Did you make them? :D

Probably too late now, but I'd have just decided to let the children stay at home. Best lesson they could ever learn: the world won't stop turning if you miss one day of school because Mother Nature's having a bad day.

But that's the Day after Tomorrow.

What's forcast for the Day after the Day after Tomorrow?

After the hurricane passes and the dust cloud clears from the earthquake it will be a balmy 32 degrees with a long term heatwave forecast but bringing about a serious risk of flooding.

They have access to the internet these days. So, if everybody says it's a potential disaster, it is.

    Until it isn't, of course...

Can't wait for the destructive snow and blizzards.

Is 3cm of snow life threatening? Only I have no will made since the last met warning.

Ah, you might get lucky - the blizzard will hit just after you get to the airport and you can watch it all through the windows of the departure lounge ... for three days! :D

The roads wont be impassable if there is extremely hot summer weather ?? How is this even relevant?

That's not what I meant at all, I was referring to the overreaction that seems to be happening in Ireland now for every weather event

I was going to make a will, but I thought life's too short.

You can recreate the Millennium Falcon 'jump to light speed' Star Wars effect by driving at full speed through the snow at night with your headlights at full beam.

Why rough it when you could be sitting at home in comfort and safety ? People simply had no choice, we do, it would be silly to choose to do nothing to ensure your family's comfort and safety because that's how it was done in the past.

Remind me, how many cars were on the roads in the 70s?...

And how many motorways did we have??

    BREAKING NEWS ....

    Dublin gets (some) Weather!

    Enjoy while it's there ;)

Note: Beats the last storm when all the rest of the country got from Dublin was 'ah sure it's just a bit of wind' ...

Judging by boards there are quite a number of our country cousins with dublin issues.

Maybe you dont realise how fond we are of you. In time of trouble we send money and encouragement and theresa mannion to you. Ok we dont send money. But we do care.

I’d like to see the statistics on how many houses didn’t have fridges or freezers in the 70s. Pretty low I’d imagine.

Anyway this few days of weather will be much bigger, if it pans out, than any 70’s snow.

Haha we love you too! Though tbh it was more the flat out denial of many dubs that the ex hurricane was anything a bit more 'than wind' lol just because ye didn't get the worse effects of the storm.

As for your other point - remember there's over 3 million people living outside Dublin who help pay for Dublin and those living there.

But whos counting eh? Enjoy the 'snow' ;)

Aaaah, no, the money flows the other direction. Dublin contributes more to its country brethren than vice versa.

It's only for Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wicklow and Meath but yes, if you're in one of those counties, no school.

Guy I work with is off for rest of week, not snow related, just using up his holidays.

Says if the schools are closed and his kids are at home he's coming in. I believe him too.

It looks lovely and pretty and very white outside, here in Kildare. I've to go to hospital later for a minor procedure so that should be fun (the procedure and getting there in the first place).

Hi there, is your procedure an emergency? The HSE sent out an advisory yesterday afternoon telling us all non emergency appointments should be cancelled, including all outpatient appointments, for today, tomorrow and Friday. If you haven't been contacted, I'd say it would be a good idea to contact the hospital before travelling.

Met Éireann issues red weather alert and warns of 25cm of snow: Warning issued at 5am for Dublin and much of east coast
...After snow accumulations of between 5 and 10cm since Tuesday night, Met Éireann warned that total snowfall up to midday on Thursday may reach 25cm.

Why do people say their trips should be “fun” in these poor weather conditions. As someone with a 200klm commute round trip daily I can assure you it’s not fun at all.
