I am currently a vodafone sim only customer paying
    €35/month
    My 12mth contract is up!
    10GB
Unlimited any network calls and texts
    100 international min & texts
    2000 unlimted texts

Want to change my phone and upgrade to Samsung S9+. So guy in shop told me as I am sim only I have to upgrade to bill pay to purchase the phone therefore the cheapest plan offered is
    RED Connect Essentials II
    €40/month
    24 month contract
    5GB
    4G+ Data
    Free VF-VF Calls and Texts
    Unlimited texts to any networks
    100 minutes to any network

So for €5 more on my current payment of €35 if I upgrade I will get 5GB Less data
Loose my unlimited calls for any network. SOUNDS FUNNY TO ME!

It does not encouage me to stay with vodafone.

    Three are offering
€30 per month (€5 less than current payment and €10 less than vodafone upgrade)
    Unlimited ROI Data
    8GB European Data
    Unlimitied 3 - 3 calls
    100 flexi min call
    100 flexi min texts

Not sure i understand the Three Flexi.

Has anyone had the same issue trying to upgrade with SIM Only
and I know Vodafone claims to have better coverage than Three, would anyone recommend a move to Three on the above €30/month plan?

The upfront charge on those plans is 629 (vodafone) and 650 (Three)

Stay with Vodafone as three is a horrible network, congested because of unlimited data and too many mobile companies on their network.

    Thanks all.
I know sticking with Vodafone is prob the better route coverage wise but the 24mth bill pay plan is crap, considering the benefits of my current sim only 12mth plan with double the data and unlimited calls and texts.

To keep this I am looking at buying sim free which is a lot of expense.

You're going to pay for the phone one way or another. Buying it sim free means you can change network any time you please and you can sell it and upgrade at a time of your choosing.

Short code problems make them impossible to use for most potential customers.

When you sign into your bank and get a text message, or Google, or Park By Text etc etc.

Tesco Mobile is nearly the same with banks, only AIB works with them, but then again Tesco is a pathetic excuse for a network.
