Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can anyone tell me what is so wrong with these 3 women that they think they are a different gender, different age, and different (mythical) species? Is there a mental illness at play, which would suggest a responsibility of the state to provide psychiatric care rather than say pediatric or veterinary care?

The first two are a matter of legality, the last one is personal freedom. As to "wrong" - well, who says there's anything wrong? Not conforming to the norm does not make you "wrong".

Personally, I'm not in a position to tell someone I've never met that I'm in a better position to tell them who they are or are not.

She changed her name to Nkechi Amare Diallo . Apparently because the Dolezal brand was damaged and prevented her from getting work. I think Jane Smith would suit her better than Nkechi Amare Diallo but I'm a white male so what would i know?

There was a law brought in that any porn featuring someone who was of legal age but looked under are could be classified a child porn (although I think it might have been Australia? Not sure....)

Question is: would a pedophile be sexually aroused?

Well one of these folk dont identify themselves as human, dragon tis.

May I ask what toilet you use when in a pub/restaurant or cafe?.

That’s a fair enough mantra but that grown ass Stefonknee thinking they are a 6 year old little girl is a little bit of a stretch no?Are we to allow that person to integrate with other six year olds as if they’re one of them, under the guise of showing kindness?

    @Hapax Legomenon

Just as the lgbt forum says "this is a safe space" (i.e you are not welcome to share opinions that may upset members), i think the links to articles i posted in my op draw a few uncomfortable parallels to gender dysphoria.

Look at the thread title. It's practically a trigger warning! I'm not encouraging trans-bashing, but it's hard not to draw parallels.

One woman says "i feel like a dragon". How does she know? She's never been a dragon. So, an academic might say "well, she identifies as a dragon. She says she always knew she was different, even as a little girl, and only after watching the 2nd hobbit film did she realise she was actually always a dragon. To say otherwise is hateful. Oh and we've to update the definition from "a mythical beast" to something more inclusive and scientific. Even if she didn't transition (which isn't just cosmetic) she'd still ve a dragon. And also, every citizen must provide gold to the dragon otherwise she'll set our village on fire. And please use her correct pronouns. They're special dragon pronouns."

    I'm going to bed now.

    Why do you care?

This could be the first response to literally any thread on boards. They wrote the OP because presumably they care enough to have written it. They might want to start a discussion on it. That’s the whole point of forums, or at least it should be.

Have to agree with Buford and others on this - as a society, in our rush to be "accepting" (and FAR more importantly, be seen by anonymous social media "friends" to be so!) we've crossed the line from understanding and tolerance/support for genuine transgender/gay etc people, to enabling and encouraging every bizarre fetish or notion someone has as legitimate and to be valued.

People like the 3 cases in the OP's links need professional help and guidance, not indulgence!

I find though that the people who advocate for and excuse this sort of behaviour spend far too much time on Twitter, Facebook and the likes generally. What is it about the Irish psyche that we have this "need" to be approved of and validated by others, and that we simultaneously soak up the worst of these other cultures like a sponge?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

Being a dragon in this weather would be fairly handy though, no need to shovel the snow, just fire breath the driveway clear. Happy days. Also, if people don’t accept your dragon-ness, simply eat them.

I doubt that any of the three mentioned in the OP will be reading anything on here.

For a start the 6 year old girl would have a very basic reading level, would be unable to operate an electronic device and prefers to spend time playing with Barbies.

Dragons can't read. They hoard gold, breath fire and fight with medieval knights.

Lastly, the Filipina would only know Tagalog and have a very basic grasp of English.

That's an extreme, silly and wholly unrealistic example. But ignoring that, what's the alternative to stopping? Keep going, making them more and more upset because I believe I'm right? Mock them, perhaps, for being so upset about it? Not sure either of those things would make me feel too good about myself afterwards, tbh.

Damn right, I'd stop, and I'd make a mental note never to raise the topic in their presence again.

So.... In a discussion about vaccines, an anti-vaxxer is upset that you want to give autism-causing vaccines to children, and are trying to force your science on him? So you censor yourself.

Or your white-power work colleague is disgusted you're comparing him disfavourably to Jews and Africans? You might avoid the guy, but will you censor your opinions for fear of upsetting his belief?

How about a neighbour who genuinely finds your car number plate offensive. Will you change your route to avoid passing his house?

    Where does the self-censorship end?

Where does exercising your right to free speech end? I don't really believe in God, for example. Should I have the right to stand up at mass on a Sunday and tell the priest I think he's talking nonsense? Arguably, I should have that right, but should I exercise it?
