There's a small band of light precipitation heading towards Dublin now (from the south/off the Irish Sea). Will it be snow, sleet or rain? Probably all three!

Well it's appearing as SNOW in Firhouse/Ballycullen Dublin 24!
A slight thaw was taking place though....

Just wanted to add my thanks to MT Cranium and all of the knowledgeable contributors to the weather forum. Met Eireann and all the news outlets can say anything but if there's a big weather event approaching, this is my go-to source of information for reports and forecasts.

So thanks everyone, your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Another slot of precip on approach. Temperature at Howth 0.9 / 0.4

Not without chance it could fall as snow, just inland.

Managed to get to the airport no problem from Longford at 7:30 am, main roads not too bad!

Big flakes (none of yesterdays powdery stuff) falling in Cork City. No text from work saying we don't need to be in, so on goes the snow-walking gear to cross the city... as pretty as the snow is, it's lost the novelty factor when life is expected to carry on as normal around it!

Supposed to be in work this morning but no hope of getting out of my driveway. The snow is a foot deep in most of it. The novelty of this has really worn off now

Looking at the guidance - I would suggest a slight thaw today but it looks like the serious thaw for eastern counties from Sunday morning, with a major thaw by tomorrow afternoon looking at this dewpoints...

    hirlamuk-18-41-0.png?03-05

But really for today and tonight, dewpoints don't rise much above 1 degrees, so any thaw will be rather slow but substantial near the coast.

But the real flooding risk thaw tomorrow .

    OMG there's snow coming I can't wait!!

OMG where is the snow, it's 2 hours late in my backway!!

OMG there's too much snow, can't wait for the thaw

OMG I hate the thaw, it's horrible looking and place is flooded

I'm pretty sure it's the same posters posting these type of statements all week. Imagine having such a negative mentality where you need to have a moan about absolutely everything!

Still snowing very lightly here in East Limerick, with 8cm falling overnight. Have to attempt to drive today, should be fun

I'm just looking forward to when this bloody wind dies down - we're on the east coast in a old and drafty house, so it has been baltic in the eastern side of the house for days now. Even with the heating on high, it's struggling to get into double figures in some rooms :(
