Hi guys, flying back to Dublin airport from abroad soon. All the airport hotels seem to be booked out. Am I mad to be considering driving back to Laois this afternoon?

No. You'd be mad not to

Met eireann has taken the red warning down from the website? Just wondering why.... so drogheda have a nice covering of snow maybe 5 minches and 2ft snow drifts

Likely making big changes to extend it. It seems cold is here to stay.

Might be the only time I ever say this - but I wish the sun would piss off now in Limerick and let the show commence :D

I think there is a radar issue not just Netweather , Metogroup Premium radar showing nothing also and Im going on 5 hours plus constant snow

I've been wondering how much actual snowfall we're getting today, as opposed to the wind lifting already fallen snow back up again and making it look like there's constant snowfall? Certainly there's an aspect of that where I am, though we did just get a nice big shower of dinner plates that have been really rare so far.

Swords is up the road - a few hotels there! If it is going to get as bad as they say, make sure you are confident of making it to Laois or somewhere where you can get shelter, also make sure you have sleeping bag, water, food, if you attempt it, stay safe!

Must be a badly designed website to have to remove the warning to update it up lol

Last night I had 18cm. Didn't measure this morning but probably a bit less than 30cm.

Yep there's been a thaw on over here too - not too unhappy about that it was freezing this morning!

We only have 6-7cm of level snow here. No great increase since yesterday. Although there's been lots of small flakes falling/blowing around for the last few hours. It's currently -1.2/-4.2C. The low last night was -4.5C.

Please don't. Checking it every 15-30mins is fine. Spamming F5 along with the rest of the country will prevent those who really need from accessing the site.

Whatever about boards.ie, people need to be able to get onto met.ie

Seems to be... hopefully it's an upgrade rather than downgrade too :p

Having trouble uploading a photo, but I've just measured 31 cm in Newbridge, drifts are starting to get to 2 to 3 feet. Still snowing non-stop very heavily, this storm is going to bury us.

Just went to town (Cork city) and it's pretty slippy! Mental queues in Lidl. I went in to get some eggs and walked straight out again, couldn't be arsed.

Probably all queuing for bread. ;)

A very short video I took of a flash of lightning and thunder in Midleton last night at about 11. Was hoping to catch something better, but this was the best I could get.
