So judging from their forecast with the strength of the winds it will be a blizzard

It has been snowing constantly here in Kinsale for the last 90 minutes so I have just done another measurement outside and this time got 21cm. I don’t know how scientific this is but I’ve been measuring the same spot on a level part of my driveway since yesterday morning. This morning at 8am it was 18cm so we have had an accumulation since then. Top of car currently only gives me 16cm but more seems to be blowing off the car.

Why on earth do they have to remove the warnings prior to updating them? Very misleading.

Surely it's just a file copy or database update.

There seems to be a bit of a thaw going on in Waterford even though its still -1.5 and the snow is still falling.. what is this madness?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,012 ✭✭✭Artane2002

Still lots to come according to the radar. I'm guessing it's because Emma is sending moisture up this way causing more persistent showers.

So the Red's back for Donegal.. We still have no snow in the South of the county, not one flake. People are very confused. Shops like Aldi have closed at 1. Not as windy as it was earlier. Maybe we'll see action this eve.

*Spoke too soon, wind picking up again and I'm sure I seen a flake or 2! Finger's crossed now :D

I'd say it's something to do with the website cache layer. There a few minutes ago some people could see the updated warnings, while other saw none.

Absolutely lethal up on Bray head, havent felt wind like that since Ophelia, literally couldnt walk into it at some points. Its starting to snow in Bray now, Aldi was closed so I went to Tesco, had 10 minutes to grab some supplies as they were kicking people out aswell.

They'd want to sort it out. Maybe they can't find any classic ASP developers LOL!

Why have Met Eireann only the warning until 12 midday do you think? How often is hirlam updated by the way?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,427 ✭✭✭ZX7R

Siobhán on the forecast, adamant and it will be a blizzard and not blizzard like, I am starting to get the impression there is a of internal bickering in met eireann due to this storm

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,842 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

Siobhan said :"Blizzard conditions, not blizzard like"

I have never heard a Met Eireann forecaster say that before. Cherish this event peeps. I remember the fall of March 2018..... froze were the days!

Looking further ahead, some models are suggesting a reload of cold next week. Great news, if it verifies.

Still snowing here in Westmeath, but thawing too. Biggest problem I currently have is young lads pegging snowballs at the window as they run past

    lol!!
    Are they for real??
just look at Netweather radar, continuous snow from very early this morning and still falling, drifting up in strong easterlies.

Looking at Hirlam for tonight (especially after midnight) it's looking like the south east corner is going to get buried!!
