I greatly sympathise with secondary teachers and principals. Every example of modern social dysfunction ends upon their territory in its raw and threatening state.

Feral youths are a direct consequence of lack of enforcement of the law by guards and courts

It's not the children that need educating here, it's their clueless parents.

What do you suggest their clueless parents should do?

Of course all this **** could have been avoided decades ago if the drug problem had been taken seriously. This is all heading into the abyss and it's not remotely funny. People caught importing drugs into this country need serious prison sentences with very hard labour.

Do you honestly think the drug problem can be solved in that manner?

The US has had a War on Drugs since Nixon and have spent billions if not trillions on the problem. It's worse than ever over there.

Locking people up is not the solution people think it is. The US has more people in prison than any other country and what has that achieved exactly?

My father has had a recent experience with the gardai which makes me wonder whether they are any part of the solution to any serious social problem.

No, I think we should shoot drug importers but that is unlikely in our PC world. Much better to legalise everything and let the whole country go down the drain.

Start parenting and stop making excuses and expecting others to do their dirty work.

You still haven't said what parents should do - I take it you aren't one.

Given the widespread abuse of prescription drugs and alcohol would the heads of Diageo and the pharmaceutical companies be up for execution too?

They shoot drug importers in some countries, doesn't stop importation. There is far too much money in drugs and it's foolish to think you can ever stop it.

So we should just roll over and do nothing?

So, you're still not going to expand on what you mean about parenting?

She says it's a blessing now but at the start of the show she was very unhappy with it.

Isn’t it about time that parents started taking responsibility for their own kids and their behaviour rather than always looking for someone else to blame for their failure as a parent. Her son has a drug problem,DEAL with it you as his mother and stop trying to pass the buck. Well done to the school for taking positive action in dealing with the scourge that is drugs amongst young people, her son should not be allowed back into any other school until the mother proves that she is taking some form of responsibility in taking action by getting some professional help/councelling for his drug habit.
