Wasn't the issue with the size of world cup to do with money? The big boys don't want to share the wealth with the smaller nations who (realistically) don't have an ultimate chance of winning... But that's short term gain for (possible) longer term pain - it'll hinder the growth of the sport.

    4 wickets down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

Tough from here 72-4 off 23

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

19 runs off last 2 overs. 98/4, just about halfway there!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,605 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    106/5

Big wicket. Dodgy decision? Come on Scotland.

Getting very interesting now. Leask looks like he means business here, hope he does nothing too rash.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

    Damn rain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,404 ✭✭✭✭Collie D

    This could get very close

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,605 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

125/5 with them off for rain. Scotland 5 runs behind on DLS

Scotland 5 behind on DLS now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,605 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

ICC on the phone right now telling them to keep the players off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭lambayire

    Just seen the lbw decision.

    That's a howler

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,404 ✭✭✭✭Collie D

Any mention on TV of how long they expect them to be off? Sunset in Harare is less than two hours away.

Also, looking at tomorrow's forecast there is a 40% chance of thunderstorms..rain dance?

If he hadn't been given out, Scotland would be 3 ahead on DLS right now

    Draw any good to us?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 584 ✭✭✭CiarraiAbu2

Scotland would move to six, we would need the UAE to beat Zim tomorrow or have it rained off and we hammer Afgan.

There won't be a draw. A result is confirmed given the number of overs played. A tie is very unlikely

    Not looking good....

4.20pm Liam Brickhill, our correspondent at the ground, says: "The rain is getting much heavier now, and where we had patches of blue we now have only grey. There are also big puddles forming on the covers." He adds: Local knowledge suggests that if the rain comes from the Golf Course End, it could be the sort that sets in. That's the side that this storm came from."

Thats 2 massive decisions gone W Indies way now, including the Holder wicket not given as a no ball yesterday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Pity too cos the way Leask was going about it, he might have had Scotland over the run rate in a couple of balls.

  • Registered Users Posts: 56 ✭✭BabyWillis

Looks like that’s the end of that the puddles are massive, going from the covers nearly out to the ropes from the pics on sky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,404 ✭✭✭✭Collie D

    And they've called it

    Unlucky, Scotland

Such a pity. Would have been very interesting had WI not made it. Conspiracy theories will run wild with that lbw decision.

Awful luck for Scotland. It simplifies our last forlorn hope though. We need to beat the Afghans obviously and hope the UAE pull off a miracle against Zimbabwe. Won't go to NRR now unless Zimbabwe / UAE ends in a tie.

I wasn't watching the game but does it not seem pretty shortsighted to not push the boat out a little to keep ahead of the par DLS score when it was clear that rain was coming in? Were SCO under the kosh and in fear of losing a wicket?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

In fairness to Scotland nobody seemed to be predicting the really heavy stuff until it started descending, until then it looked nothing more than a freak shower. With Leask on strike i think they'd have won it with another 3 or 4 balls, desperately unlucky I think.

Think Irish players will be fairly Pi**ed of with themselves after that match last Friday.

Anyway when is the T20 qualification starting? :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,732 ✭✭✭BarryD2

Really poor outcome. First a very dodgy LBW verdict and then rain to deny Scotland a chance. Very unsatisfactory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,605 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Newstalk sport earlier ran with Ireland received massive boost in it's world cup qualifying hopes today. Was expecting some sort of unexpected news regarding extra places being made available but no just the result of today's game

Zimbabwe win toss and will bowl. No further rain overnight and the outfield has dried out completely. Sun shining too, showers forecast for later but most likely not enough to force a NR.

Over to the UAE batsmen it is..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Guffy

    19/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,605 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    50/1 after 10

  • Registered Users Posts: 157 ✭✭gavinoontheweb

Happy enough with UAE batting first and moving along at a decent pace, I would have been worried their heads would drop easily with any big run chase. Hon the emirati!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,404 ✭✭✭✭Collie D

    Second wicket gone.

    92/2 after 20.2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Guffy

    106/3
Hopefully they can hold it together and set a decent total

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,404 ✭✭✭✭Collie D

    125/3 with 30 overs bowled

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,732 ✭✭✭BarryD2

Yeah let's hope they can set a decent target and then sow a bit of doubt in the Zim batting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,978 ✭✭✭Deise Vu

141/3 after 32. Nice 16 runs from the last two overs. Zim bowling must be a bit wild, 14 wides already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,978 ✭✭✭Deise Vu

154/3 after 33!! I refuse to jinx this by saying anything.

Afraid to get hopes up too much here but beginning to look promising.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭lambayire

Might the weather be an issue today?

Forecast for Harare expects a thunderstorm this morning but it should pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,404 ✭✭✭✭Collie D

    165/3 after 35

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭carltonleon

Looking at 250 maybe or is that optimistic ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,605 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Zimbabwe were 1/8 at the start of the innings. They are now into 1/2

Arrrgghh, it's the hope that kills ya.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,978 ✭✭✭Deise Vu

171/3 after 37. Slowed down a bit there. Cremer, who has no wickets but who has been the most economical, bowled 36. He has already bowled 8 overs so hopefully the UAE can get the run rate up again. Shahad has 53 now. Partnership with Butt approaching 70. Fingers crossed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,978 ✭✭✭Deise Vu

    Shazhad Gone. 180/4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Guffy

Whats the wicket like? I mean is 250, should they somehow manage it, an easy total to chase on this?

188/4 with 10 overs left. 2 Boundaries for Butt in the last over which was Cremer's 10th. Hotting up nicely.
