Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

7 runs off sixth inning is nice though.

11 off the eight is nicer.

Well going by the scoreboard the game plan is going perfectly, no wickets down after 10 overs and the run rate is creeping up from 3 now as the batsmen are settled in. Could be rain later so keeping wickets is key for that duckworth Lewis method

Anyone now if this will be back on sky or are they on the SA v Aus game for the day?

At least the ICC has a decent website to follow the match on. The GAA could learn a lot from their long lost cousins!

    Balbirnie under serious pressure here

Slow going. Penned back by decent bowling. Pressure will build, need to start getting at least a boundary an over soon, and get a single or two as well.

They're starting to choke us now with the spin

No boundaries in 10 overs now. Slow going

Forgetting what the boundary looks like at this stage

Good start considering the average score of 236 on this track, wickets in hand

At the current rate, they won't be anywhere near reaching 200, nevermind reaching the average

Not too surprising really, never settled out there.

230 looks fanciful at this stage. Need a performance from someone...

What's the forecast? Wash out sends us doesn't it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,579 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    and a six.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 743 ✭✭✭minitrue

Wickets in hand you expect to double your score at 35 overs which would put us on course for 225 (before those boundaries) and I'd think that's a winning score on this pitch, especially against an Afghanistan batting order that has been struggling and with the added pressure of a World Cup spot on the line.

    2 boundaries in 2 overs.

They're losing the run of themselves.

What's the story here from those watching. Are the Afghans really tight on the bowling or are we putting in a bit of practice for the upcoming Test match?

Can't see 3 an over cutting the mustard?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,579 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Stirling 50.

Some rain forecast in the afternoon but not enough to rain to wash it out.
50 for Stirling. Hopefully some joy for this partnership.

The Afghans are tight on the bowling. The two wicket takers are in the top 12 of the ODI bowling rankings. Qualifying for the WC is the priority. They can't just go out and cut loose from the off.

Rashid Khan is joint first in the ICC ODI bowling rankings.

    He's a wizard this chap

He's on course to be the fastest ever to 100 ODI wickets. I didn't realise he's only 19....

I suppose you have to take into account the fact that he is playing mostly against associate nations so not the strongest batsmen in the world. But still, at 19, for a leggie, it's impressive.

    30 overs 107/2

True, but we're nearly 30 overs in. There's a changing balance to be struck in ODIs, is there not. And we need runs unless there is some unknown in the forecast where extra wickets will benefit us in some D/L calculation.

    Fair point.

    FWIW:

    40 v Zimbabwe
    31 v Ireland
    11 v West Indies
    7 v Bangladesh
    5 v Scotland
    3 v UAE
