What are the rules for importing a rifle barrel from the US . A friend of mine will be flying home soon and could carry it but is it subject to firearms import regs ?

    Thanks

Yup,it's an ITAR regulated item.Needs a state dept clearance to be shipped outside CONUS via a registered firearms exporter. That export license costs about 200 usd as well as the exporters fee in handling your transaction etc.it can stack up so quick,it can actually be cheaper to get a gunsmith here or in the UK ,to go and make you a barrel for your Ruger.

Paddy Fagan in Harbour House Range has a selection of 10/22 barrels. A buddy of mine got a lovely fluted one off him a while ago.
