If anyone was planning on purchasing this I'd wait.

Seen in R/Battlefield that they're offering a 50% discount for the game for those you've the 2 previous games (from reading I don't know if you need both or 1 o them)

Just played it there for a few maps and it's probably just me but the TTD seems worse now

The fact that the XB1 and PS4 versions were dropped to 50% off within two weeks of launch shows it's gone horribly south sales wise.

Decent word of mouth may help somewhat combined with discounts but they just made such a colossal, fatal blunder with the whole reveal and social politics debacle that followed.

For reasons I cannot comprehend some people at DICE are evidently still chasing that dragon, I would've thought the overlords at EA would've given them a pretty stern warning to the contrary.

Just make the next game Battlefield 2143 and then no-one will give an utter crap what manner of man, woman, child, beast or otherwise makes an appearance and they can get back on track.

At this stage all the messing probably has put Anthem at risk. The stock price is in the gutter and more and more are selling up. EA more than likely will be gutting Dice Sweden, look at what happened with the Montreal studio after Andromeda.

They are an entertainment company who believe they should be political, people play games ect to escape the real world politics. Look at the lesser known stories of WW2 they have re-written (the Norway commando's written out of their own history).

The biggest no-no seems to be though that they are going head to head with fans so as to be on the right side of history. The recent launch part is evident of this, every time things look to be blown over they reignite.

Just having a few games there. TTD seems to be on point at times then other seems off. 3 games conquest there and 3 games the team I was on got horsed out of it more so than any other games Iv'e played. like +300 - 0

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,325 ✭✭✭iLikeWaffles

Throwing knives locked for anyone else. Says it requires rank 9 recon, I'm 13.

That may well be the changes to the artificial ticket acceleration they had,i believe it was mentioned in patch notes somewhere.

The only changes mentioned in the notes is for soft catchup if a team is far behind seems that didn't work in the games I played. Players leaving pretty quick those who were staying where mostly positive. Flag capture time for a team that was far behind I thought was the other change, didn't notice that either.

Can't find what you are referencing in the notes.

I'm not crying it's the onions

EA apparently pulling a Bethesda and announcing new dragon age very early to take some heat off bioware for anthem.

If anyone is playing on Aerodrome as recon, just a head up. If you place a spawn beacon inside a blown up water tower at D flag the game might freeze and crash. Just happened for me anyway, on xbox. If it happens to anyone else let me know, I will try to do it again just to see if it was a once off. Its a good spot looking into C btw.

Really on the fence with this one. It kind of just looks like a generic war shooter. Im not seeing any of the major historical battles.

I know the arguement could be made that they've all been done before but why would they not have a map centred around the D day landings?
Are there any maps set in Japan or north Africa?

If they do that they get hammered for regurgitating the same old stuff everyone has played a million times.

The new maps are in Egypt, Norway, France, Belgium and Holland.

Early days yet! Each update might have a new map.

Get woke, go broke - it’s not just an internet tagline, but visible in a veryreal form with what has happened BF V and its sales. The whitewashing of the actual historical stories is just disgusting.

And it’s actually a shame somebody with sense didn’t tell every provocateur in this sorry story to shut the **** up and let it blow over, because it’s actually a decent game. I’m having a great time with Breakthrough and Conquest, but at the same time I kind of feel dirty for even buying it and supporting a developer more interested in virtue signaling than listening to their core fanbase.

Thats one of the things that puts me off it the most that so many of the guys i played with and have played with from BF4 until now have been turned off of it. One of them is especially salty as he is Norwegian and they wrote the commando's out of their own story, the disabling of the heavy water plants.

For BF1 it started off great there was allot of people early on and we all fell in love with the operations campaign but the longer the game went on the less and less people played. There was nights where we could be waiting an hour to get a game, you were nearly guaranteed after 12 you wouldnt get one unless you wanted to play with the Americans.

So right now out of 7-8 people that i know who would have bought it only 1 has taken the plunge. With the game losing money from the get-go the management might just decide to push the reset button and take funds away from it to focus on a less controversial topic.

EA right now is lurching from controversy to controversy, we have had Battlefront 2, Mass effect Andromeda, loot boxes in Fifa, and now this. Putting aside the current design philosophy of predatory practices to milk the consumer a politically driven dev team spells a bad time for the publisher.

For me personally, i am going to hold off and see what my mates do. I will also be looking at how this plays out in EA as i can nearly gaurentee that Soderlund wont be the only casualty from all this crap.

Underneath all the BS outside of the actual game is the best BF game in many a year especially if like me you enjoy infantry gameplay.
Personally i just want to game and dont give a toss about any of the crap outside of the game.
If a multiplayer has solid gunplay, hitreg, netcode, decent visuals and is just fun to play thats good enough for me and BFV has them all ticked off.

I get that EA are bastards , i get that Dice are mocking those that slated their trailer and everything else but my advice is ignore all that BS let others worry about it and actually play the game.

Personally ive cancelled my origin access premier and will buy the game at 50% off now.

and play the last tiger, it's easily the best single player story battlefield ever delivered and I would have loved if they fleshed it out into a full campaign taking you from Africa to Russia and finally into Germany

Any chance of more War Stories coming or is that it? Battlefield 1 had 6 which was decent.

I don't think so, they said they were fairly solid on the 4.

Happy enough with the most recent one though and it's handy enough get the last tiger skin as a reward too.

Looking forward to getting stuck into the Tides of War stuff.

Despite the games current flaws, I still have hopes they'll get sorted!

Just as well they leave it at 4 before we all have to re-live that historical event everyone remembers, where a squad of gender fluid lesbian midgets stormed the beach at Normandy :D

Hope they keep bringing new MP maps with Tides of War though, I'm not hugely impressed with Panzerstorm so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,259 ✭✭✭Shlippery

Its "Chapter 1" so yes I would expect more to come.

    I'd based my answer on this though;
    Tides of War

Will there be more War Stories coming in Tides of War?
Dan Mitre (Global Community Manager): No, after The Last Tiger is released in December, there is currently no plan to add additional War Stories through Tides of War.

I guess it's subject to change if they introduce more factions over time! Who knows! Still reckon time would be better spent on the MP material as that's where Battlefield thrives...

Bf1 introduced new factions as DLC. With ww2 it'll be insane to not expand to at least include the yanks, Japanese and Russians

That's revisionist history, they actually declared the beach a safe space and force the Germans to leave through the use of violent non-violent protest.
