Have you ever played Planetside 2 Gimli?
Medics have access to a throwable medic grenade that when thrown into a pile of dead guys revives them all, fecking great craic altogether :)

Love the carbine playing assault class.
You need a quick trigger finger, but the damage and range is awesome!

That said, I can be literally hit and miss!
One game I barely got any kills and was dying non stop.
    Next game I was MVP!
When it works, it's just sweet!
Having been so used to rocket launchers in BF3, it's taking me a long time to understand the trajectory in BFV! Nowhere near the same at all!

    What's everyones favourite class?
I love support, the mmgs are my go to weapon. I'm level 10 on the MG34 and starting on the MG42

It takes a bit of planning ahead but there's usually a good spot to deploy the bipod and defend or support an assault on a flag.

If they can fix the ammo crate bug and the bipod bugs it would be nice

No it is or was ftp on PS4 too. I'd heard something about it that put me off. I always treat ftp games with suspicion.

I play/played loads of FTP games and never had to spend a cent in any, Planetside2,Path of Exile,Warframe to name a few, top quality titles.
F2P games of years ago were rubbish but not so now.

How do you deploy the bipod. On any ground or do you need a ledge etc

Does it automatically when you go prone on a flat surface or are beside something at its height.

If you go prone its usually fine, but certain ledges work too. The problem is that its fairly arbitrary which ledges work and which don't. Sometimes you're just about to shoot when your bipod disengages.

Another issue is when you're deployed and the gun looks like it's clear of obstacles but the bullets still get snagged on scenery

These happen maybe 5% of the time which is enough for it to get annoying but not enough to be game breaking

had a fairly long session yesterday. don't seem to be getting as aggravated as I normally do on fps's, it's a lot of fun. it may be that I'm playing breakthrough. unlocked the LMG which despite the glitchiness was pretty easy to do.

I'm a terrible teammate, I get distracted too easy. Spent most of a game trying to build a snowman, why did the game put me in Rotterdam? Stumbled upon some artillery at the back of the snowy village map. Lobbed a shell into the village and got an immediate kill, spent 5 minutes lobbing artillery into it the map decimating the town. Only stopped when I realised the enemy had captured B flag beside me.

My scores and kills have started to return to previous Battlefield levels after a long run down the bottom of the leaderboard.

Got my first MVP though it took far longer than any other BF and have been 600-800 off it another 4-5 games.

I still feel it's the weakest BF map wise.
There's as really poor maps and not a single great one.

I hate the tanks as well, the turret turning slower than the directional stick is a pain and I've had to infantry it completely in this BF whereas in BF4 I'd use tanks nearly 50% of the time.
Hopefully they sort them out as between the splash damage and the turret speed an infantry is superior in so far as his ammo lasts which isn't right.

I think the problem with the maps is they don't seem to work well on Conquest but I don't play that much, also 9 is too few. The number has been hit I'd say because of the "free" DLC. More to follow I guess.

Those MGs you can build are devastating. Some of them have really good lines of sight, others not so much. Killed a guy yesterday and a medic ran over to him. I let them revive and then killed him again. Superfun.

It's a shame there aren't options like extended magazines for some of the weapons, the Carbine on Assault is incredible but 16 shots run out very quickly.

I think tanks are in a good place, just takes awhile to get used to the changes.

I wouldn't have used vehicles too much in BF but I've gone on some big streaks over the weekend in tanks. I topped the scoreboard and went 66-0 and 47-0 when attacking on Breakthrough over the weekend. I have had quite a few 15+ streaks too using normal, heavy and AA tanks.
My tactic is to attack objectives from a distance and then push with the team to take them. Pop smoke, retreat and repair whenever I get hit and constantly checking the 3rd person camera.

Driving straight onto an objective will get you killed quickly.

The recent update has increased tanks survivability by quite a bit. I wouldn't like to see too many more changes as they could easily become overpowered.

Looking at the trophies over the weekend. One is beat the campaign on hardcore. Tried it out. Easy enough. Inching my way forward and got OHK'd by a random artillery shell that put me 20 minutes back. another is to destroy 5 gun placements in a plane. I've never been in a plane, what gun placements?

Platinuming BF4 was relatively easy. There was one you needed to get a kill from a bomber. spent an afternoon trying for it, got it after battling a squad for control of the truck you needed to launch it from.

There are, on the main menu go into your Company, click the M1A1 Carbine, and choose the Specializations option. As you rank up your weapon you unlock a tree and can choose different options. Once you get to Rank 4 you can reset it for free. I think the extended mag is Rank 3 on the Carbine.

Same with Tanks, Rank two increases the turret speed.

I think they are really well balanced too. You have to attack what's in front of you. If you go driving in circles you won't last long, but stay a bit back and have a good front gunner to keep infantry at bay and no one will get near you. Too far back or too far forward and you are beatable which keeps it fair.

The turrets are slow on the large tanks but the small and medium ones are fine and once you unlock the specialization upgrade they are good too.

The new map is seriously good. I think the biggest problem with BF5 is actually that the base maps are the weakest in the franchise so far.

Playing Panzerstorm and I feel like I'm back playing a proper Battlefield game.

Its good craic. Its best to be in a vehicle as its a fair trek to get around on foot

The tides of war medical crate task is impossible.

Can't be done. Nobody uses medical crates to heal themselves. Sometimes as they use them to resupply medical pouches but those don't count towards the task.

Plus the crates fall through the floors half the time

I abandoned the two crate paths as it was quickly clear how pointless it was, and took the centre option which was easily done.

I reckon those crates will get a redesign sometime. Everyone throws to resupply because its easier. Which makes med pouches preferred over the crate. Hope they add another class perk to medic anyway along with more levels to all classes, make it so the med crates heal passively within a radius.

The ammo crate resupplies on pick-up for launchers also, so there is an incentive to use that, picking ammo off the dead should be more rare I think 3 options for ammo is a bit much.

Have a few more ammo crates to do for that challenge but the med crate resets I think had it half way before now it doesn't move. Have the gun though so won't be trying to get it any more. After the 6 days the challenges will still be available anyway.

I find with the medic every time I select the smoke grenade I wish I had a frag and vice versa.

Ah yeah, but the completionist in me wants all those tasty tides of war xp to unlock all the other stuff.

Halfway through the medical crate..have today and tomorrow to get it!

Medical crate was tough and frustrating , you really need a squad on voice comms for it .

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,845 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

Can you heal yourself and get the xp? I got 175 but wasn't sure if it was the health i regened from my own crate or not.

very hard alright unless ur in a squad . i found rotterdam the easiest to do it on around the B flag people camp around there and often get injured from across the river . it was the only place i got anyone to use it
