Is this still plagued with issues or is it worth a buy now? Or just wait another month or two?

There's still a bunch of bugs across the board. The most annoying are assignments not registering, or the loading screen issues. The core gameplay isn't majorly affected. A significant patch is due soon, so after that might be a time to take stock and decide.

No harm if it's still cheap.
The gameplay does take a lot of getting used to if you're new or haven't played a BF in a while.

It is worth it if you are not putting major time into it, an hour here and there. The maps can be repetitive on long sessions. But the gameplay is good, just the odd bugs as mentioned nothing major.

Huh, surely a game is less worth the cost if you hardly play compared with a game you play a lot?

BFV isn't as polished as BF1 but it's not as bad as where BF4 was 2 months after launch. And given that you get all the DLC for the purchase price, if you can get it go 40 quid it's a pretty good deal for what could be a game you're still coming back to in 2020

I think if you play long sessions the bad stuff wears you down. I was on early last Sunday and about to take a break when an old friend started playing with me, he left and I played with his brother in law, he left and I played some more, really enjoying it all day, then out of nowhere I almost had a breakdown, in the last few games.

I see a lot of content creators slagging it off and there is plenty to criticise. Most of it seems to be franchise fatigue, the state it launched in which I expect will eventually be fixed and lack of content which will slowly be addressed via dlc.

I've bought this on sale but I haven't downloaded yet. I'm waiting until I can get a new gfx card and hopefully in a month or so the game will be a bit more fixed!

Its just the usual drama. When BF4 came out it was all about the drama for a good 6 months with loads of people rage quitting the series because of netcode issues.

Then Bf1 came out and it was polished from day one, and those same people were complaining that it lacked the excitement of BF4 and Battlefield was past it's prime.

Now BFV is out, the gunplay is great apart from some bugs with vaulting and bipods, some sound issues etc. There are two patches due in January. If they haven't fixed most of the worst issues by then, then we should start to get worried.

We've got 2 factions in a game that should see at least 4 more added and I'd say at least another 10 maps and multiple new modes before 2020

got into one of the AA tanks (british one ) at 0-2, frontlines. Got out at 44-2 having pushed the enemy all the way back to F, then got pushed back to B, got into another one…….

Good old battlefield AA tanks. Barely hurt airplanes but melt anything on the ground

Been putting a few hours into BFV and tbh I'm slightly disappointed with the whole thing.

The game play is great and graphically the game is stunning. However there are a few issues that are really getting to me

Really dislike the UX in the game. Everything just seems so long winded and complicated to get to. Took me ages to figure out how to modify my gun.

I find the maps to be very bland and basic. No real good maps that stand out for me. A large amount of them are very open and poorly designed and ruin the flow of things.

The game is also riddled with bugs. I'm refusing to play it atm as every time I go on I get that infinite loading screen after a game or two.

I'm sure the game will improve over time but for now it's just not working for me. Hopefully these patches this month are going to make some difference.

I'm already bored after about 40 hours, I'll still play with friends and enjoy it but the whole thing is a dud as a major Battlefield game, in my opinion. It's not a bad game in itself at all, and I don't feel hard done by with 40 hours gameplay for €40, far from it, but it's not a great BF game and is sort of starting to feel like Hardline V2 for me in that sense.

My main gripes are the boring, unremarkable (and frankly pretty poor) maps, overwhelming focus on infantry and lack of content. Panzerstorm is truly an excellent map and so much set apart from the others, I wish the game had that sort of variety when it shipped. I don't think every map should be like Panzerstorm, but the game badly needs a shake-up in the map design department.

What disappoints me most is that this was their chance to do WW2 justice and blow it out of the water and deliver a proper spirtual successor to BF1942, where it all began.

Instead we get the weakest numbered game in the franchise, a poor WW2 experience and guaranteed we won't see the conflict again for a long time.

Even if they'd just re-skinned BF1 with new decent WW2 maps in the same style as that game with new skins, it would've been better than this (and I'm not saying that's the direction they should've gone). Again, it's not to say that BFV is bad, it's just not Battlefield proper, it doesn't do WW2 justice, it doesn't even do what DICE is capable as a developer justice, and it's just pretty forgettable.

As with Battlefront 2, maybe new content will really bail it out, but I think it'll be too little too late to properly redeem itself.

Playing with some old friends this weekend, it's such a surprise to have people actually reviving you.

I know it's not the be all and end all but I like having my kdr north of 1. Thanks to a disastrous start, old age and alcohol I was miles behind the curve. I'd been padding the stats using tanks yesterday but discovered today the tracker site I use doesn't seem to include tanker kills. Serves me right.

Had to do some recon dailies yesterday. I don't snipe but it seems quite easy. The head hitbox must be the size of a melon. I now appreciate why I'm always getting sniped when running an MMG. You're a dead man going prone.

There is a patch in the next week or so...they are working on the update notes....

Re. the lack of tracking...check the server to see if it is tracking...No point till the next ToW and Chapter 2 comes out...
I saw servers that were tracking ToW for the last one which was mostly grand ops. but the server was for conquests..

Some reports from last week we're suggesting it sold worse than Hardline, so you probably aren't far off lol.

I still haven't pulled the trigger on it as unfortunately non of my mates will touch it.

Haven't played in a while but have seen online that it's basically a total failure in terms of a Battlefield numbered title (sold less than Hardline). There is a very hard lesson to be learned here for Dice & EA - leave your woke politics out of the games and next time, make sure the guys talking to the media aren't completely obnoxious assholes who tell people not to buy the game.

Here is the article those shoddy headlines are coming from, it is worth actually reading it to see they are being very selective with their info when saying it undersold. http://www.vgchartz.com/article/435120/battlefield-v-sells-an-estimated-14-million-units-first-week-at-retail/

That figure being bandied about is only for the first two days of BFV sales at Retail (not Digital). BFV launched on a Tuesday. So it counts the sales from Tues & Wednesday, it doesn't take into account a full week's worth of sales where most people will pick it up at the weekend when they can get to a store.

1.4 million people walking into Gamestop or the likes on a damp and cold Tuesday in November is actually impressive.

It doesn't count digital sales which across the industry are about 70-80% now. When Hardline launched it was more like 30-40%, 2 years ago for BF1 was closer to 50-60%. That huge shift to digital has been ignored as it only counts retail.

It also doesn't count that anyone on PC would have subbed to Origin Premier, or bought from Origin. That sub didn't exist for Hardline/BF1. Do you really think only 36,000 people bought BFV on PC?

It doesn't count the Deluxe Edition sales from the week before.

Hardline's Deluxe and Standard Edition launched in the same week, there was also no EA or Origin Access options at that time and about 70% of sales were at retail.

So not even remotely comparable figures at all, but it makes a nice click bait headline for the angry Youtoobers.

While I'm not saying BFV is setting the world on fire sales wise. The figures paraded around by pain in the ass youtubers trying to boost their channel by appealing to anti sjw warriors are not directly comparable.

Hardline was released in March 2015 when about 35% of people in the US bought physical media rather than full game downloads.

As of October 2018, the figure is probably closer to 15-20% physical media compared to digital downloads.

It hasn't sold less than hardline, it might have sold less physical copies but it's digital sales more than make up the difference.

Digital sales make up a far higher percentage of sales than in 2015 plus bfv incentivised people to buy digital with early access to game with EA origin and the Deluxe digital version.

I doubt they'll release the exact sales figures but I'd expect them to be around BF3/4 but nowhere near BF1.

I'm still really enjoying it and there's a healthy player count, no problem getting into any game modes. The only issue I had was trying to get onto servers as a party but once we split up it was fine.

I do agree the reveal, launch and the sjw nonsense were massive missteps. It's a pity because I'd say DICE is full of highly motivated developers who have created the basis of a very good game but it's being shat upon for reasons largely beyond their control.

Company Coins fiasco would have driven me crazy if I had spent 10K on a tank skin. As it stands I have enough and am only upgrading stuff I really want to use. I bought hardline on disc but this digitally.

I like BFV and for what it did for the gaming community, anyone who gives a **** about their online avatar being a woman and posting about fighting aliens in another game forum thread. I can safely remove them from my freinds list for being saps.

I had some really really fun gameplay in planes today. (And I'm not a great pilot)

I think they've gotten the air/ground balance right in this game. Bombers can be devastating to ground troops but only if they're not being harrasssed by fighters. Two fighters working together can own the sky but can't hurt the ground very much. Plus its fun. I rarely feel like i die unfairly while flying. That happened a lot in Bf4 and Bf3

I love this Battlefield 90hours played so far and not feeling bored yet, didn't play BF1 or 4 but played all the rest and i'm enjoying this just as much as the rest of the games, really don't get the flak it's getting, sure some bugs annoy me but they are few and far between. Couldn't give less of a **** regarding the whole female drama thing

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,408 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

all my characters are female and where possible from ethnic minorities. the only bug that really annoys me is the friends list one on console. guy swimming towards ne yesterday, me standing on the bank letting him come closer, aims at head, pulls trigger and all my friends appear on screen, tried hip firing through it, got killed by a pistol, it's more the shame

That happens me too. It's easy enough to stop as it happens when you're playing but the pause screen is somehow still open, you're able to see your assignments on the right hand side of the screen while you're playing. This explains why pressing R2 brings up the friends list.

So if you see your assignments on screen while playong just press options and press resume and it'll go back to normal.

The series is going like COD was for ages for me now, iterative with not much in the way of a new feeling to the games anymore.

Friends are all playing so ill be playing for a bit but cant see me playing hundreds of,or for that matter even one hundred, hours of the game.

Glad i waited and picked it up for €35.

I hadn't noticed any assignments on screen, it's possible I hit something that causes it. It happens maybe once or twice every few hours. It's not game breaking but it's really annoying.

It happens out of nowhere, ADS and when I fire up it pops. To get rid I just hit a button that resets the pad (PS button) but by then it's too late.
