Decent KO from Galahad but time to step him up. Everyone on Sky sat around scratching their heads why a convicted drugs cheat who served a ban from the sport and has beaten absolutely nobody of note hasn't had a world title shot. Pretty laughable.

Boxing overload right now. Good little tournament on TG4, pity it didn't get a decent crowd at it but that's understandable with the weather.

    Where's it being held?

Yafai v McDonnell is shaping into a nice little fight. Hard one to call.

The stadium, roy sheehan in a decent fight now.

Who is it on commentary that said they hope to fight Canelo for all the MW belts later this year?

Spike O'Sullivan. Who actually is a top contender.

Roy Sheehan against JJ Mcdonagh is going to be a great fight. Will be interesting to see if Sheehan can maintain the pace.

These two bring back memories for me in the stadium. I used to coach a lad who was same age as Sheehan and a weight lower, so we always togged out at the same time. Nice young lad he was.

JJ was probably the best underage boxer I ever saw from 11-14. Was completely untouchable in those years. Didn't quite live up to the promise, but still enjoy watching him.

Good fight here with McDonnell, he is doing well

He's doing very well and showing how untested Yafai has been.
Yafai leaves his chin very high after combos. He hasn't built 12 round stamina yet either, and that's really hurting him here. He needs to up the pace and pressure Yafai, but he simply doesn't have it in the tank.

Yafai looks knackered in the 10th, needs a knockout I feel

Irelands last man standing tournament in TG4 also on. Good win for Atif Shafiq.

    Thanks for posting that.
I didn't know this was on and it's a good watch.

Even worse than knackered, he is out on his feet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭carltonleon

McDonnell just needs to keep this at distance and it’s all over

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭carltonleon

Good well deserved win for McDonnell

Not a good night for Eddie Hearn. Dave Allen clash of heads in the first round, Yafai now loses to McDonnell, and I think that Kell Brook is finished. I think one of his eye sockets may get damaged again. It looked brave at the time, but what a career changing decision it was to step up and fight GGG.

How do ye see this going lads?
I think Brook can win the first half of the fight but not the second half!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭carltonleon

Yeah thought it was brave from Brook at the time but it really was folly....

Said it at the time that Hearn was more interested in money than the health of his fighter. It was ridiculous putting him in with a hard hitting machine in GGG and it's more than likely shortened his career.
And then they put him in with Spence jr!

Rabchenko won't have much left if he gets to the second half.
He's too basic and I feel he's going to eat shots from Brook without getting through much himself.

Brook stoppage 6-8th for me. Might be a mercy stoppage.

Get Brook and Khan made and be done with the two off them..

By the time that's ever made I think Benn sr vs Eubank sr would be more intriguing!

Did I read that right that Rabchenko has only fought 4 times in last 3 years and lost 2 off them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭carltonleon

    Decent 1st round for Brook

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,729 ✭✭✭✭walshb

    Clear Brook rd

Yes, Rabchenko not been busy fighting lately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,729 ✭✭✭✭walshb

    This lad is useless

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,505 ✭✭✭✭blade1

Well that was a bit of a non event!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭carltonleon

That’s that. Not really a great night for Brook in terms of getting his mentality tested after the injuries but good win

No. He fought 5 times in the last 3 years losing once.

6/7 fights in past 5 calendar years...losing twice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,729 ✭✭✭✭walshb

    It was a lovely uppercut

I must have misread it, lost to Mundine in 2014 and Harrison in 2016 so 6 times in 4 years losing 2.

In the last 5 years he fought 9 times, losing twice.

Not sure what this 'calendar years' thing is about.

He asked about 3 years, so I gave the answer.

    2013 - 2017 inclusive is 5 calendar years. 7 fights he had

    Love watching Josh Taylor.

No. He had 9 fights in those 'calender' years.

Besides, a years is 365 days. When any normal person says "the last 5 years" they mean 5 x 365 days back from today (366 for a Leap year). It's not rocket science.

Erm, do the two fights he fought on 30 March 2013 and 16 July 2013 not count?

    Very entertaining card on TG4.

Great to see Irish fighters getting a bit of exposure on national TV.

Byrne has some heart. And chin.

A very, very young Wayne McCullough featuring on an undercard on Boxnation right now. Great to watch.

Anyone got a link for Kovalev fight? Showtime have a free 7 day trial for the Wilder fight. Nice night for NY fight fans!

Sky aren't half hyping up Wilder. Seriously overlooking Ortiz..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,398 ✭✭✭megadodge

    Uzcategui looking very impressive here.

Hopefully he continues to dominate and we never have to see either Dirrell again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,915 ✭✭✭Morrison J

Uzcategui dominating. Dirrell is completely washed. Be surprised if he doesn't get stopped.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,398 ✭✭✭megadodge

    Dirrell quits.

No corner retirement. Direll quit. Simple as that.

Now please retire and don't annoy us again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,398 ✭✭✭megadodge

    What's the story with Uzcategui?

Is he Mexican based, as I think he's originally Venezuelan? One of his corner has the Venezuelan colours on.

He seems a likeable guy and he'd be a hard night's work for anyone at that weight.
