TV Recommendation

Hi All,

My trusty 42" Samsung Plasma died over the weekend (to be fair I bought it in 2009!)

Looking for recommendations on a replacement,

42"-49" 
LG or Samsung (Any noticeable difference between them?)
Might look at a smart TV this time around as netflix \ RTE player would be handy
Need to order in the next day or two as I have stolen tv from Kids xbox :D
