That is great news, I wonder have the developers heard something on the QT about The None Events Centre ?

No idea, but both of the two above are absolutely perfect for a big concert night out. You'd be staying about 100m from the Event Centre, and bang in the middle of the city afterwards, and not too far from the bus/train-station the next day too.

All we need now is an Event Centre!

A lot will be bunk beds as well I'd imagine if it's a hostel.

Something which is badly needed in Cork. Apart from Shelia's hostel and maybe one or 2 along Western Road I think that is all Cork city has. The budget accommodation is something that cork lacks as a European city. Hopefully it wont get held up in the planning process.

Updating this list to be in one spot. Tried to be as accurate as possible, but sources are sketchy at times (interchangeably using rooms/bed numbers etc.) Some of these have probably fallen by the wayside..
    • Grand Parade (tourist office) hostel 284 beds
    • Custom House Quay tower 240 bedrooms, 25 serviced apartments
    • "M" hotel (Trigon Hotels, St. Patrick's Quay / Harleys Street) 228 beds
    • Sullivan's Quay (BAM) 193/220 beds, depending on proposed alterations.
    • Morrison's Island hostel - 192 beds
    • Wilton 190 rooms
    • Metropole redevelopment (Trigon Hotels) 183+ beds (I think these are all new rooms)
    • Deane St. hotel (by bus station, Tetrarch) 165 beds
    • Maldron (Parnell Place, OPEN, ALMOST COMPLETE) 163 beds
    • The Dean, Horgan's Quay (BAM, Clarendon properties UNDER CONSTRUCTION)136 beds
    • Floatel, Horgan's Quay 96 beds
    • York St. hotel 73 rooms/ 90 beds
    • Kingsley redevelopment 63 new beds
    • National Irish Bank hotel South Mall - 58 beds
    • Clancy's 29 bedroom hotel
    • Hostel above Brick Lane 16 beds

It looks like the Hostel on Grand Parade has hit a few objections regarding the height and also regarding the pub element on the ground floor.

Not surprised by the objections. Casey's objection sounds a bit petty to be fair.
