Hello there, I'm an artist and fledgling illustrator. How do I find commissions/jobs? Who should I contact? Agencies? Publishing houses? I'm also looking for art centres or cities which are famous for arts in general.
    Thank You :)
    Sara

    Hi there,

Here are some links you may find useful.

You could also contact some of the Arts Festivals around the country, like, for instance, the Galway International Arts Festival, or Spraoí.

You could also keep an eye on this thread, people post there from time to time looking for artists.

Other than that, personally I'd be treating it like a "normal" job, and I would get in touch with anyone who might be even remotely interested in my skills, so I'd be getting in touch with art galleries, publishers, art schools and colleges; I'd be putting up ads in all the noticeboards I come across; I'd be getting in touch with employment agencies to see if any of them deal with artists - even if they all say no, I'd ask everyone for feedback and advice on who else may be interested in what you have to offer; I'd also be looking at sites like publicjobs.ie that have art-related vacancies from time to time, etc.; I know of artists who paint shop windows for various festivities (it's a way of getting visibility, at the very least); I'd be looking at social media.

As for "arts" cities, do you mean in Ireland or abroad? Do you mean places like Paris, or Prague?
