I reckon there's more to it.

"other fella gave a hand written receipt"

A little "cash agreement" between people?

If there was 'more to it' why didn't the other side defend themselves?

They sold it for over €3m a couple of years ago. Company not short of cash.

They did try and have it dismissed

Problem is staff members are no longer around and a few were "let go" over irregularities.

So probably unable to get "paddy" to attend court.

'By any readings of the papers, you have been in serious default in supplying a defence.....'
Thats what the judge said about the owners. She then qualified by suggesting that the defendants were using delaying actions to frustrate the plaintiffs case.

I agree. The pub made mistake after mistake. I'm not sure why the couple waited around for 40 mins though -maybe anticipating damages?
