Asking about a friend I'll try and be short.
He started about 2 and a half years ago in a shop, got a 6 month contract, 6 months came and went, no new contract, carry on. Just before xmas, shop owner wanted to renew the contracts. Everyone signed.
Turns out shop owner had plans to lease shop out/new owner as such/new Boss.
Employees have little benefits, time and a third on a Sunday, other little things.
New Boss is counting down the minutes for these 6 months to be up so to get rid of all these benefits and bring in some other non favorable things. Anyone that doesn't sign incoming new contract will be fired.
Has the signing of that second contract effectively turned a full time worker in a contract worker with no very little rights?
Can the terms and conditions be done away with as new boss thinks. Will transfer of undertakings not apply?
This all seems very sneaky.
Comment away plz.

Your friend has been working for 2 of 2.5 years without a contract?
For the ones that have a contract or greater than 4 years service I would think TUPE would apply

Initial 6 month contract expired, he stayed working there and then signed another 6 month contract at a later time. How long did he work in between without a contract?

About 19 months with no contract.
