There will be some contrast in temperatures between now and tomorrow evening. Currently 10 degrees here in Wicklow with light winds and almost feeling warm.

Would this snow stick though due to it being a wetter week? (In Dublin specific) for parades and all.
The easterly wind will dry the ground so if it does snow and the showers are prolonged and heavy it should stick.

Wicklow town received zero snow from streamers in the last event. We got loads on the friday night and all day saturday in the frontal event but will the wind bringing the streamers be north easterly enough for me i am wondering? Or will we get some frontal snow if the wind is pure easterly and we are scorned by the Anglesey shadow! My little girl was away for the last snow and would love some! I also tentatively stocked up on a few essentials but am hoping not to jinx it. I was on a family grouo thread and all i heard from wednesday to friday was whens the snow coming, ah it will never snow etc etc etc...nearly lost the will to live.

You do wonder why the ME emphasis is solely on Leinster and Cavan/Monaghan though with their warnings. On those charts, parts of Munster will see just as much as Leinster.

The Eagle on Radio1 just there. Showery rain could spoil the parade in Dublin, then snow showers will become widespread in the east saturday evening and night and some will wake up to a few cm's of snow sunday but its all over by monday.

ME kept saying that Dublin would get the worst of storm Emma when it was always forecasted to be Wexford/Kilkenny/Carlow.

This,I think, will prove to be correct in terms of snowfall.

ME have no warning for Tipp/Waterford. Definitely the east of both counties are in the firing line for as much as some western parts of Leinster. Gerry as usual last night just rambled through the same forecast at 2130 as he did at 1830 and was almost afraid to mention a wintry shower.

Waterford has now been added to the warnings. ME are obviously watching Boards;).

I suspect that the warning will eventually be extended to all of East Munster. I would also not be at all surprised to see the warnings upped to amber for at least parts of Leinster/East Munster/Cavan/Monaghan.

I fear so AGAIN. I know I have changed my tune since Donegal days but I would love to make a snowman.. West Mayo offshore.

    Nice new toy for everyone:

Decent tool for forecasting precipitation. Looks like there will certainly be some about Sunday. Cork might even see a bit;).

Chances of the airport being closed or flights being off on Monday?

I'm flying then for an important meeting on Wednesday, and I'm very concerned we'll have trouble getting away! :(

Very nice - any indication where they are getting their charts from?

Burnout after the last event I'd say, it's too late in March now to be getting excited about this - I couldn't care less about seeing snow this weekend. Hopefully it ****s off as quick as it comes and we can start getting some decent (and normal) spring weather.

Id say 50/50 chance of some delays and cancellations, not only due to wintry falls but knock on effects from UK and european hubs. Keep a close eye on the weather updates and your airline

I think the last event killed off a lot of the snow excitement

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,061 ✭✭✭irishfeen

Still some big variations on where exactly the snow showers will fall.

Weather models struggle with streamers but Harmonie and hirlam usually have the best handle on them.

Subtle changes in wind direction can make all the difference, whatever about snow depths from showers the windchill will be a shock to many people and those with lambs out will be in trouble.

The airport won't be closed (I can't remember the last time it actually closed) and I don't have any worries that your flight will encounter issues taking off. If you've an early morning flight, my main concern would be ice on the roads first thing in the morning.
