Its showing on net weather radar, and slowly beginning to show itself on met E radar!

Generally speaking the Netweather radar isn’t very good for the Irish Sea off the east coast, I think they get their info from a Belfast based radar rather than Dublin.

It’s been snowing in Wexford (near Kilmore village) since 9pm last night. It stopped briefly at about 2pm today and a lot had melted but then started up again before 3 with renewed vigour and we now have quite a covering again. It’s coming down fast and furiously for the last hour in a very strong wind so it’s pretty much horizontal. Photos don’t do it justice I’m afraid. Currently 2c

I see that return now on radar, though it looks a little west of the cloud head. Not sure if the two are linked.

Would agree with you re net weather, but starting to show on Met E.
However it is confusing as MetE shows it much further south of dublin then it does on net weather radar. So perhaps that confusion is explained by your point about reliability of net weather radar

When is this C*** from the Eastern Front due to pack his bags and **** off for good? Are we going to see some normal spring weather starting any time soon?

Measured 6.5cm at mid day in the back garden, it's quite sheltered from trees at the moment (had a few Inches less in the last spell compared to elsewhere, measured 10.5-11 inches in same spot then) probably a cm or two higher in the area generally. I also found a drift in a nearby field just below knee level.

While it isn’t as bad as last time, and will be very brief, turned out to be a decent bit of snowy weather especially given the time of year. Still plenty of snow lying across much of the Ringsend area, although it stopped falling a few hours ago.

I’m more pleased with the fact that there have been two individual cold spells this year. If there had only been one you might conclude it was just a bit of unheard-of freak weather, but two seems to suggest that maybe the last few years of snowless winters were an aberration, not the other way round. I had sort of lost faith in cold weather after the last few winters, but I’m a bit more confident now that there may be more to come (although not without a few near-snowless winters in between obviously).

Most fell here between 6 and 10am. I lucked out and managed to experience some amazing snow squalls.

No proper thaw here apart from roads etc which obviously are gonna clear up in March. I'm wondering will it freeze hard tonight. Maybe too windy.

From a Midlands perspective, 3 spells. Very decent snow on 10th December. Quarter of what fell today.

The hirlam has been spot on in this cold spell. It did fairly well in the last cold spell too.

Been lightly snowing in cork for the last few hours, but nothing's sticking unfortunately. If anything it's nice to look at it falling :)

For those interested, I posted my article on the beast from the east of January 1987 in the Irish Weather Statistics thread. This was a true beast from the east with -20 uppers and daytime temperatures between -1 to -4c in Ireland whilst -7 to -9c in parts of the UK.

Not a lot happening in the West just cold. Was down in Athlone today odd shower there but nothing worth talking about. Was expecting a fairly significant event but it was a no show.

well I mean it was orange for the East of the country really and yellow everywhere else including the west, which said ''but some areas will remain dry, especially across the west and northwest.'' so it was never going to be a significant event over that side :)

100% agree. I nearly cracked up this morning when I looked out. Snowed more or less non stop here in North County Dublin this morning from 9am- 3pm. Place was covered in it. Thankfully though the thaw was a lot better than few weeks ago so a good bit of it melted now. If I ever hear anyone again saying they love snow I will lose it.

At least we managed to get to local parade yesterday but it was absolutely freezing. Such a miserable weekend. Was really hoping to get out to park for nice family walk. Not going to happen now. I hate snooooooooooooow!

Put on a hat, gloves and a winter coat and you'll be fine. As Chopper would say: harden the
