If players could begin to organise a suitable time for their fixtures that would be great.
Next update will have finalised rule structure.

Necro

1. Standard codenames rules for games which can be found here, with a couple of exceptions.

2. Designated captains for their games can set up a thread as normal, and the players on each team will PM their captains with two random words each in order to generate a fair board.

3. Any issue with a post on a game thread should be discussed between captains initially. If no resolution can be reached, an independent arbiter should be contacted - Ideally a player not involved in the game.

4. Absolutely no discussion between captain and team-mate on game thread once the game begins until its conclusion. I know it's difficult at times but as per the rules of the game, captains are allowed to clue a word, and use the usual phrases. Guessers can share their thoughts, but thanking of posts or responding to the guesser by the captain, or indeed the other team captain is expressly forbidden. Banter between guessers is completely permissible.

5. Decision of the organiser is final. If there is an issue, please contact me via PM and we can discuss it further but no arguing on the gamethread.


6. Fixtures: Where a team is classed as the 'Home' team (or team that is mentioned first), they will begin the game second with 8 clues. The 'Away' team (or team that is mentioned second in the fixture) will have 9 clues and also have the first guess. All teams will have a 'Home' and 'Away' fixture. Please note this for organising fixtures. Colours do not matter, merely the amount of clues a Home or Away Team has.

7. Scoring: 3 points is awarded to the team who clears the board of their words. A 1 point bonus will be awarded to a losing team should they have 2 clues or less remaining on the board. After further discussion, a team hitting the assassin word will lose the game but receive no further points deduction.

8. League Table: It is intended to update the league table after each round of fixtures. Depending on numbers and player availability, it is intended to run two league fixtures per week to be organised at times that suit the teams. The organiser will not involve himself in exact scheduling of matches, UNLESS a backlog of fixtures appears.

9. Following the conclusion of a league game, it is the responsibility of the winning captain to post the result, inclusive of scores in the appropriate thread.

10. Friendlies between teams are permitted, provided they do not impact on fixtures or create a backlog. The organiser will have no involvement in the organising or running of these friendlies.

11. Following the conclusion of the league phase, the TOP 4 teams will qualify for the league semi finals, which will be played on best of 3 basis for the semi final, and best of 5 basis for the final.

12. In the event of a number of teams being tied on the same amount of points, a series of one off playoffs will be used to determine the qualifiers for the semi-finals. Points difference will not be used to determine final positioning, as Necro is not a maths genius.

13. Questions on any rules or clarifications should be posted in the dedicated league thread, ie - here.

14. The organiser reserves the right to make alterations and additions to the league rules, should the matter arise.

Anytime during the week is fine. I'm probably going to hold off rounds 3 and 4 until after the WW game for availability of players but it's up to you folks

Can I ask, I don't understand Rule 2, pm random words to generate board? Who pms the words to whom and how is it used to generate the board?

(Also, around during the week for fixtures but likely unavailable for most of Monday)

The two captains pick a word each and pm them to each other.

You combine the words (E.g. bath and soap) to form bathsoap, and use that to generate a board.

Yeah don't think it'll be an issue anyway. It's played for fun.

I agree, like if both captains are happy for one of them to generate a board, they should just generate it. I dont know if would be bothered searching for a 'good' board. I take whatever one i get.

It was, guessers send a word to both caps.
Caps Combine, away.home, that's the board and who is first and what color already sorted.
Both caps have board, and guessers don't know other guessers word. So can't find the board themselves.

It was thought up in order to remove possibility of generating preferable board due to the predefined first & second.
You just said that you don't know if you'd be bothered doing it, the method I came up with is simple, and means, even If you do decide to bother, you can't.
