i have a garden room which is 150ft away from the main house and looking for recommendations for networking to the room

The room has electrics but no networking and comms cable was never run

I was looking at unifi solution but it doesn't do the distance

can anyone recommend anything that might be suitable

    thanks

Is running a cat6 cable out of the question ?, you can get weather proof cable that you can stick under the ground with a spade without ducting.

Cat6 will be good for anything up to 100Mtr run

yes running the cable is gone. the builder forgot to do it, finished the garden, electrics, without the comms cable.

Would power line adapters work for the distance?

If yes it might be the easiest solution.

What unifi equipment where you looking at?

Their airfibre range can go up to like 20km away... which is a bit excessive but i would have thought the nano stations would have been ideal for this scenario.

A pair of Ubiquiti Nanostation m5s are what you need. Unifi are indoor access points.

Get the M5s and then you can use 1x AP in the garden room connected to the M5 on its outside wall.

Are they are phasing the M5's out for the litebeams?

So just get one M5 ,? and then use the other Unifi in the office?
do i not need to M5 units?

You need a pair of nano stations, one on the side of the house and the other on the side of the shed. The AP goes in the shed to provide wifi there

I've used tp link wireless links, similar to the nano stations and have found them excellent.

You need a pair of m5s to create the point to point link then use one of the Unifi APs

How about using one Unifi UAP‑Outdoor5? Or do you guys think its still better to use the point to point M5?

You would need to purchase that and a directional antenna and you would still have crap connectivity in 1 direction.

Two LBE‑5AC‑Gen2, two pole mounts and 2 surge protectors( for when lightening strikes) would be around 200 quid I think.

so not the two M5's , these instead?

I believe the M5's are end of life, the older nanobridge's are referred to as Legacy. LiteBeams seems like a decent replacement for people that want a fast cheap pt-pt link over short distances.

I'm not much of a wireless person, so I'd ping anybody who sells the gear and ask them for options. Ubuiqiti gets touted a lot as they are pro-sumer that are on the medium scale of difficulty to set up. But they are not the only options. Only caveat is, you need outdoor directional devices for good performance.
