Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Out of knowwhere, the GOAT scores again.

Totally against the run of play

Messi's burst of pace when he needs it is outstanding.

Yes it was baffling to do it in a good position when you are playing well.
3-0 & more mistakes from Chelsea....they can only blame themselves

To be fair, that third goal changes nothing. Chelsea still need to score a sh!t load of goals without reply to go through.

Now they've to score 3 whereas they would've went through with 2 before that

    And that is game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 678 ✭✭✭beya2009

Christ where would this Barca team be without Messi. Chelsea have played really well...just have not been clinical enough.

Messi on a hat-trick of nutmegs against Cortois.

I thought Courtois was a GK? Looks like an outfield player forced on goals....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,105 ✭✭✭mada999

Courtois brutal again there.... Barca scoring all their chances while Chelsea have missed all theirs... that's football though

**** sake. Thats so annoying. Disaster.

Courtois having a real 'mare tonight.

    The state of Courtois. Jaysus.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,046 ✭✭✭Berserker

Remind me again is Courtois hoping to goal Barca or their bitter rivals Real?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Didn’t even need to look up before shooting, best of all time.

We were back into on balance of play.

3 bad mistakes that you don't get away with at this level sadly.

3 0 doesn't even tell the full story but here we are.

    Shut up Hamilton, you clown.

Needs to be a header to complete the perfect hatrick of nutmegs.

We've had chances too but nowhere near clinical enough.

Yep, changes nothing....Chelsea still going out with a whimper.

    Messi. Outstanding stuff again.
Chelsea have played well, but Giroud/Moses/Hazard have offered little to nothing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,056 ✭✭✭Too Tough To Die

Not much Courtois could do there to be fair. Might as well blame goalies for diving the wrong way on penalties.

I'm really going to need George to clarify that though.

Wouldn't blame Courtois for the third. What's he supposed to do, stand with his legs closed?

There were players on for the cross so he needed to be able to move, and Messi drilled it in from 6 yards

Mignolet might get the nod at this rate. :pac:

Didn't really think there was much Courtois could have done about that one myself, fairly lashed at him from about 5 or 6 yards away. No time to react at all to any shot, especially with the feet.

Even Mignolet must be looking at this eyeing up that Belgium number 1 jersey.

I’d certainly blame him for the third.

For all Chelsea dominance apart from the penalty claim have they created anything from open play? I can't really recall anything other than the shot get Stegen dived for and caught from willian in the 1st half.

Outside of open playFree kick that hit the post but free kicks are speculative anyway. Still I wish that had gone in. Would have been a much more entertaining game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 686 ✭✭✭Flincher

Think ye're being harsh enough on Courtois there. It was drilled between his legs from a few yards out. From that range you're just looking to stand big and hope it hits you. For the first goal he definitely had time to react by dropping his knee, but I think Moses should take more of the blame for Messi's second.

If and it's buts....... But if the peno is given the dynamic of the game changes. With Barca having no Busquests and Iniesta.

Wasn't to be we probably deserve a consolation though.

Hazard bursts through, sucks in 3 defenders and lays it back to..... No one.

    Morata couldn't be bothered.

George Hamilton used to actually commentate didn't he?

Now it's just him expressing his delayed reaction to things that have happened with variations of 'oh'

Been impressed with Kante tonight. Nzonzi was great last night too. Even with Pogba in terrible form France's midfield looks very good with the World Cup a few months away.

Another big game Hazard hasnt turned up for.

I think Conte will have realised that you can't get away with passengers like Moses and Giroud at this level. Not that he'll be in charge much longer.

No, but Alonso has outshone him going forward.

Eamon Dunphy said Barca playing in a poor league and play against very poor sides but I had a look at the bottom half of the EPL and this season at least there has been a lot of poor teams...also not a good return with just 2 English sides progressing from 5 and there's 3 from Spain..

    Dunphy says they’re all poor.

Chelsea played well enough in that game to be fair without really troubling Barca. Over the two legs, especially at Stamford Bridge, they put it up to Barca as best they could. They didn't back down. But Barca were just very very clinical.
