Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have recently placed medicine at UCD as my number one on my CAO. I am confident in my leaving cert results but am nervous regarding the HPAT. I was wondering if there are any courses in Ireland where I could complete a year, resit the HPAT and then transfer to second year medicine in a medical school.

There's at least one course... called something like "Biological Medicine" or "Biomolecular sciences" ... that's notorious for its high points and high drop out after stage 1 because it's apparently full of would-be medicine students repeating either HPAT or LC (I'm unsure if both have to be completed in same year). The high drop-out rate is reputedly due to many of the students obtaining the necessary prerequisites for their preferred degree during their first year. Be aware that unless some sort of recognition of prior learning is obtained that 1 year of free fees would be forfeit in this scenario (which for medicine would be about 9 K for UG entry)
