Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

.....So is everyone happy with these phones? ......

Yes, very, BUT some ( mainstream for Ireland ) apps still have not been updated to work with Oreo. Not the fault of the phone, of course.

If there are any apps that you rely on then check that they work on Oreo.

I see on reddit that miui stable 10 has begun to rollout for the phone.

    Anyone get the notification yet?

You can download it from that link?

But if your worried about ARB, probably better to wait for someone to provide a safe version.

My phone suddenly developed an issue, took a photo 2 days ago no issue, went to take one this morning it's saying sd card is full (couldn't be 128gig card only got the phone 2 months ago). Haven't installed anything on the phone only spotify aa it was running very slowly after last update (I'd no songs downloaded onto card)

So I went in unmounted it (no problem) , then took out the card made sure all looked ok,put it back in, rebooted and went to mount it and now it's saying "couldn't safely eject SanDisk sd card"

Don't suppose anyone has had this problem and fixed it? I'd rather not have to format it but if I do I do :-(

From googling this seems to be a problem with others, am sorry I didn't reboot before unmounting, might have worked :-(

    Any hints/tips welcome

Could it be the SD card and not the phone?
Did you buy it off a reputable seller like Amazon, or off eBay (suspect!)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭biebiebie

Quick update for anyone waiting for MIUI 10.
Been using stable 10.0 it for exactly a week now.
Everything is rock solid. No issues and no random reboots.

Not the card, I was able to put it into a card reader after I posted that above, least I've saved my pics

I'll try formatting it and see what happens. But it looks like I'm not alone in this issue :-(

Hopefully that sorts it for you then.

I'm using a Sandisk 128gb myself, no issues here.

    Mi remote?
    Use it for the TV's.
Saves me from looking for the real remote which I can never find with the kids !

BTW it's not included in newer MIUI ROM releases.
You need to download it from the play store.

Whats the brand? There looks to be hundreds in there.

Select brand, then follow onscreen directions to test for connectivity

I find that the range isn't the best, and I have to be careful to aim it directly at the TV's

Have you tried it standing close to the TV just to be sure ?

Got 2 of these when they were released. Love the phone and need 4 more now for friends and and family.

Anyone know of the best price around for the 4/64 version?

Also need a wallet cover for one of them if anyone has spotted one can you post a link please.
    Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭biebiebie

Your best best would be to check the main suppliers at the start of this thread for up-to-date prices.

You could mail them and ask if they can give you their best price (discounted) if you're buying 4 phones

    Hi,
Call me stupid but how do create a file in File Manager? I want to create '.nomedia' in WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Images/ but dont' see the option. I can navigate to the folder but don't see any create option.

    Thanks,
    Pa.

    Hi again,

Looking for as slim as possible case that will protect phone from falls. My current one broke at top and bottom section.

    Thanks,
    Pa.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,657 ✭✭✭corkie

@dinneenp Use an alternative proper file-manager apk (e.g. Solid Explorer).

    Which case broke on you?

Updated to MIUI 10 and I must say I preferred 9. Don't like the new drop down box for notifications. All gone very like IOS.

Since I got this phone . Never had an issue.

I have new volume screen too

    This

Worked fine until I took it off to clean sides/underneath. I think the issue is that it's so tight on taking it off must have broken one of the parts that click in.

Might order the same cover, it's slim & people seem to like it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,657 ✭✭✭corkie

Have the same case, clips on the end pieces could be fragile.

There is a guide to show how to remove them without breaking them in the link you posted.

I unlocked my phone last night and installed Lineage OS on it. Everything has been good but one thing I noticed is that in areas that I've been getting 4G reception when I was on MIUI I'm now only getting H+/3G anyone come across this issue?

You could try updating your firmware to latest version.

Use non-arb version if your concerned about your Anti version.

If your already on Anti 4, you can safely flash normal firmware, just don't downgrade from the last MIUI Firmware your device was on.

Also check your preferred network in settings option.

I am on a mi mix 2 and not getting them even though turned on (generally and individually)
Apart from this, really loving the software update..

Thanks for the suggestions, my preferred network type wasn't set to LTE changed it and am getting 4G now

Anyone know where I can find this?

I see the update to MIU 10 has dropped, if I upgrade to this version will I have the anto roll back feature installed as well? Is there much to worry about have this ARB

@slayer91 I don't use MIUI and don't have an exchange account.

But googling it seems MIUI may have a problem with these type of accounts.

You may need to use an alternative email app (e.g. Outlook).

How to setup exchange mail on Android

^^^ Or you could try see if you connected to the account with default mail program, just don't go through settings to setup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 233 ✭✭slayer91

Yeah, thats the funny thing I don't seem to have a 'native' mail app on the phone. I have the Google folder where Gmail is, but MiU mail app?
    Strange............

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,657 ✭✭✭corkie

Strange that you don't have that.

Make sure is not in some folder (tools) if using the default launcher.

Look to see if it is listed in settings - apps

Edit: - If it is listed there, it maybe disabled, click on the app and there should be button to enable it

You could sideloaded it if not present.

Yeah using it fine and no problems here. My wife had an issue when she was out and about though. If the phone connected to a Wifi point without internet access the app would crash when she tried to use it. Could it be similar for you?

Unfortunately it's not that. Must be only a recent thing as I don't remember it happening before.
No matter how many times I cancel it or hit report it keeps popping up. It's a bit of a nightmare using it at the moment.

After doing some reading on here, thinking of taking the plunge on my first Xiaomi. Budget is about 200-250 tops. Looking for something with

    64GB storage,
    6GB RAM
    SD card option
    Decent camera
    Gorilla glass
    Headphone jack
long lasting battery (4000 mAh I guess?)
FM radio would be nice too...
Funnily enough I'm happy enough with USB 2.0, 3.0 isn't a big selling point for me

Any recommendations on what model and where to buy? Needs to work with Virgin mobile network (I haven't a clue about bands etc so any advice here especially would be great)

Redmi Note 5 Pro is what I'm leaning towards I think.

Does this phone work with Virgin Media phone network? Thinking of pulling the trigger on it from Amazon (is that the best/safest place to buy it?)

Yes on VM. Honor buy was where I've picked up 3 orders of the phone.
