Do you guys think its better for me to buy the Xiaomi redmi note 4 or wait for the Xiaomi redmi note 5, I'm not familiar with phones tbh but I read that the Xiaomi redmi note 4 was a really good phone for the price, I didn't order yet though.

The redmi note 4 was a very popular phone and good value for the money. And can still be got for a low price.

But if your not in rush to buy, wait a month or two to get Redmi Note 5[WHYRED][Global], it is a much better model and still good value but a small bit dearer.

Could you send me the website you bought it from please and will it be okay for me to continue to use my 48 network sim and the 3g?
You where also looking at the Redmi Note 5A, stay clear it is just an entry level phone with poor specs.

being honest I have no idea about all these different brands of phones and just want one that will do the job, you know basic apps camera , msgs, calls, nothing crazy no changing OS's or anything haha. my HTCM8 right now currently turns off at 40% battery and even higher percentages if i use the flash or 3g so I sort of want to get a new phone soon for around 250euros max

You should be happy with the Redmi Note 4 [4/64gb] <<< €149.39 + €15 shipping.

Its safe to buy from this site? never used it before

is there a site you know that offers it in different colors?

I have a lot of sd cards I could put into it so I don't really need 64gb if that matters

The site has been getting good feedback on the forums, also 3 Color options are available on it. Continue the discussion in this thread, if you get it.

Edit: - There is also the option to buy cheaper with less ram and storage, but your better off with more.

Seems like a really good price compared to the note 4 being 150€ish right now?

It sure is. All depends how quick you need a new phone. If you need one sooner - nothing wrong with the RN4. If not, hold off for this !

Do you know if it works with 48 network?

You will only get 3g on the 48 network. 4g is not supported. So I would think it would be ok to that point.

You would be better off with an MIA1.Newer phone, slightly better camera, running stock android with regular updates
32g version for under 180 shipped from Europe

@NATLOR The Redmi Note 5 [China/Global][WHYRED] has a better camera than the RN5Pro[India][WHYRED] which in itself is all round better camera than Mi A1.

Also better processor (636 vs 625), but for stock android Mi A1 is a good choice.

    Hey Corkie,
Thanks for all your posts in this forum.

Do you reckon custom ROM support for the WHYRED will be as good as for the other Xiaomis?
I was all set to buy the A1 till I saw the specs for the WHYRED, but slightly apprehensive about not getting on with MIUI..

Haven't used a custom ROM since Cyanogen - I presume Lineage is the main one to look into?

As already post in the thread, the device is Treble compatible which should make it easy to switch to a supported GSI.

[XDA] How to flash a Generic System Image (GSI) on Project Treble supported devices

[XDA] Generic LineageOS 15.1 and Resurrection Remix ROMs now available for Project Treble compatible devices

Already a MultiRom Port for it, along with an unofficial LineageOS and Resurrection Remix.

    https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/development

Custom roms should be compatible across the different variations [Global/China/India]. Official MIUI have encounter bugs when used on different variation than what the rom is intended for.

We will probably be waiting a good while to get our hands on WHYRED

Was verify a link on reddit for someone and found this message on Fantasy aliexpress store.
    .....
For friends who had bought Redmi Note 5 global version (3+32GB/4+64GB) in our store. We are very sorry to inform you about the long processing time of it. We will start the delivery of Redmi Note 5 at the end of April.
As known, this cellphone comes to market with a high-quality SOC - Snapdragon 636. But we just got informed by Xiaomi Company that this new type of chip in Snapdragon company has a productivity limitation, so the productivity of this cellphone has also been limited.
    ....

@jlynch, I believe @GBX was just posting a joke comment, and was hoping we could get it soon as possible. I had posted on and pulled info from that thread and shared here.

Had not planned on purchasing myself till the summer, end of June or start of July.

A competitor to this device has also been announced Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1)

    Yeah I was joking! ::D

I may have to look elsewhere for a new device sooner .. I'll see. Really hoped to get this as I'm using a friend's OnePlus 2 since I dropped my other phone.

Should have said I meant it as an alternative specifically for the note 4 (if you didnt want to wait for the note 5 to be released) due to the fact its newer has a better camera gets regular updates and has stock android.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro - Blind camera comparison

As already reported in main china thread WHYRED has the better camera, see for yourself above.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 images, specifications leaked online

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 preview

^^^ Links to post's in the main thread, for anyone who has not read it.

Even with the Asus device been cheaper, think I will still get WHYRED.

I just don't like the look of the Asus. That's enough to put me off it. Could be a very fine phone but I don't think it would grow on me.

Obviously EU direct shops wont have it for a while, so have to decide where to (pre) order and which route to take.
Would shipping via parcel motel and the likes be of any benefit to getting it sooner?
