Whatever the thinking and theory behind it, it looks and feels all wrong, at least based on the match so far.

I'd have preferred to see Martial given his shot at his coveted no. 9 position with Sanchez in a free role b3hind him.

We really should be 1 up, Hammers defending deep, agressivly and everyone behind the ball practically but some more clinical finesse in final pass could be the key to open the door.

The thing that has annoyed me most about him tonight is how long it takes him to get back to his feet after being "fouled". He goes down far too easily for a man of his size and strength. Whatever about a striker, you definitely don't want one of your midfielders going down under soft challenges and then taking his sweet time getting back to his feet when the foul isn't given.

Sanchez still playing too deep. With all the protection behind him he should be playing with freedom up front but still coming deep looking for it. Needs Herrera and MC Tom to bring the ball through midfield and get it to Lingard/Pogs/Sanchez where they can actually do something.

Considering we have an fa cup final coming up and maybe players might want to be part of that team i thought we would be better but then again playing poorly has become the norm

Agreed, and I think part of the reason for this formation is to give those 2 more freedom to attack down the flanks but I can't remember either of them producing a single decent cross into the box or pull back to the edge of the box.

Aside from the promising position Valencia got into of course, but as is too frequent with him he hammers it into the first defenders legs.

Hope Jose changes it up in the 2nd half because the first half hasn't worked.most of our half decent opportunities have been long range efforts which have come about as a result of West ham errors as opposed to incisive play from us.
