Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. The midfield is absolute poison.

It is but look where there golden generation got them. This squad is the first England squad in years going to a world cup with no expectations of getting to final four and what not they will be able play without the so called fear they could surprise.

Like one of the lads said look at Liverpool's midfield 3 it's not exactly a star studied line-up.

Klopp has got them playing to their strengths and gets the best out of the front 3 ,that's something I think Southgate hasn't the ability to do.

I don't think that England squad is any worse than 2 years ago. A lot of the squad are a little more experienced and some have developed further.

No need to worry about shoehorning Rooney into midfield.

Barca offering Dembele around to European clubs....

    https://twitter.com/FCBRAC1/status/996862497213829121

If it's true, we'd be mental to not try for him. A promising right footed right winger.

Sell Martial, get this guy. Or swap, whatever.

Yeah I'd be up for that. He is young and talented if we got him or Malcolm In then I'd be ok with a move for Willian we would have youth and experience in the right and same on left with Rashford and Sanchez.

Barca bought him for about twice his value last season. Would be mental to pay anything near their asking price given the amount of transfers United need this season.

I like Mahrez alright but he’d just be another Mata out in the right, cutting in on his left, we need a right footer out there who will hug the line and stretch the defence

Agree bud we are too narrow the sight of another season if gaps on the right hand side of the pitch fills me with dread.

Have we been linked with Robben or Wesley Sneijder yet??????????

I think a left footed right winger is less of an issue if the right back is willing, capable and directed to offer an attacking option on the line, over lapping the winger to create space and options.

Also, with Mahrez for example, he has the pace and skill to attack players on the right, cutting in or not. the issue with Mata is he can't stretch the defence like that, its not just the fact he is left footed. It is a style thing.

    Is Juventus' season over?

Reason I ask is there seems to be a few reports about Sandro being announced after the FA Cup. Wondering if its us stalling till then, maybe as a piece of good news to have in case we lose? :P

(Mind, thats presuming reports are true)

I would think United would simply want to get the football season finished before announcing any deals, if they are in place. He isn't going to play before next season anyway so no need to announce it ASAP.

Another likely explanation is that the press are simply saying 'a few days' so if it does happen to get done then they can claim it.

Yeah cause they are the same as Mahrez! Jesus Christ do you argue everything with stupid points. The post is about Mahrez not Messi Bale or Salah.

I’d play Messi central anyways and let him drift..

i dont think we lose though :D conte seems to be doing everything wrong atm with chelsea and looks like he doesnt want to be there. so i think we win saturday quite easily in my mind. i hope im right and we put a decent performance in.

Fair enough that’s a good point there, I do think a natural right footed player would be better for our right side though who wouldn’t need to cut the ball back to play in to the box.

I’m a big advocate for 2 FB’s so i definitely agree that we need a fullback who offers more in attack

Conte may be a dead man walking but I think the Chelsea players will have enough pride to play a bit on the day.
They downed tools in the league but a one of game like this I'm sure they will at least try to put in a performance.

Saying that I'd love if we trashed them on Saturday.

i dont think we thrash them, think it will be a close game, as you say one off game etc in my mind i think it goes alot like the game at OT this season, we go behind and come back to win.

Up until the Newcastle game Chelsea were finishing the league quite strongly. They definitely didn't look like a team that had stopped playing for their manager. They did well to beat Southampton from 2 down and looked desperate to get a winner in the draw at Huddersfield. Newcastle game was a terrible result though so maybe they have stopped playing for him. Hard to know which Chelsea we'll get in the final.

    Girezemann would be another Sanchez.

It's buying a class player with no planning or idea where to play him, and just shoehorning him into the team. We don't play with a 10, and when we do it doesn't tend to work. He's played the guts of three seasons now as effectively a second striker in a 2 man attack. Where exactly would Griezemann fit?

Need to be buying specialists for the positions we need to improve in. We have a floaty attack with no structure as is, I don't think we need to add another wanderer into the mix.

People keep saying this. They are nothing like Mata.

    Mata cannot beat a player
Mata has no acceleration or pace
Mata has little to no power in that left foot so cant cut inside and shoot
Mata is a wanderer who just drifts across the front line.

Mata is a 10 that we have put on paper to play on the right, and he operates on the right in defensive shape, but generally just goes where he pleases.

Only reason we'd grab Griezmann is if we sold Pogba and were shifting into a 4-2-3-1 properly, with Griezmann in behind the striker. And I just dont see us selling Pogba tbh.

    Fabregas talking up Jose

Fabregas on Mourinho: ”I love him. I always say that. I owe him a lot because he brought me here, I will always remember that. My first year here, Arsene had always treated me like a son, but the closest anyone has been to him was Jose."

Jones doing a few interviews before the final. Hopefully a sign that he will play, interestingly did not feature in both the Europa League and FA Cup final, so would potentially be his first time to play and win a cup final (community shields not counted).

Despite that his opinions pretty much echoed what most of us thought.
"Finishing second and winning the FA Cup would be satisfactory,"
    said Jones.
"But I wouldn't say successful. Success for Manchester United is winning the Premier League and another trophy, and having a good run in another cup competition."

Also a quote I will take out of context for the rest of my life:
    "Breakfast is optional"
    -Phil Jones

Maybe that's why he gets injured so much, misses the most important meal of the day.

Listening to Ander Hererra on Graham Hunters Big Interview. Pretty brilliant so far.

    *Paraphrasing*
There are 11, 13, 15 million watching our games. How can I enjoy playing football, knowing if I don't win, I **** that many peoples week

    Pure howling at it :D:D:D:D

He's such a likeable character to listen to.

Hmmmmm, maybe a new assistant manager afterall.

    http://www.football365.com/news/mourinho-hints-at-identity-of-new-rui-faria
Asked whether Rui Faria would be replaced by another Portuguese coach, Mourinho told Record, as translated by Sport Witness: “No. It’s a person coming who worked with me before but I can’t say the name because he’s still linked to another club.
