Nobody is suggesting terminations are in any way right, unfortunately they may be necessary and they occur anyway, the 8th restricts these women whose lives may be at risk, if you think about the living breathing women in your life, would you actually believe the rights of a recently fused egg and sperm are to be of an equal footing?

No I don't. I said the fetus does have rights. It cannot just be because the mother doesn't want the child. I also said that the father also has a right to be able to bring up a child.

I also said that it becomes a difficult debate unless you remove all rights other than the mothers.
So the father has rights over whether or not a woman gets an abortion.
Lets take that to it's ultimate conclusion a rapist could have rights over his victims body.
I know that's not what you meant, but where would you stop.

Because they want to appeal to people that can't imagine life without their little Timmy, and sure isn't he wonderful.

Just look at this latest one below(not gory).

    a) WTF has the 1 year old child (or whatever he is) got to do with anything?

    b) The 8th does not ban late term abortions for suicidality now.

    c) Are they aware that this little guy is also the face of xytex.com, a sperm donor operation?

I am 100% sure Repeal will pass now. I find it hard to find a serious No voter. Even people who are against abortion are pretty rational about the referendum and know the 8th is not working. And yes they are worried about post repeal legislation but they will put trust in the government.

I have to imagine even the most extreme No-voters must be looking at that one and cringing.

The tone is all wrong. It's making light of what is for practically everyone, a serious topic. It's almost Father Ted-esque, "Haha, look at them there. Those aul abortionists, up to no good as usual".

It's bizarre. McGuirk is playing a blinder for the Yes campaign.

It is interesting that some of the slogans, 1 in 5 pregnancies in the UK, end in abortion. Abortions up to 24 weeks will be allowed, etc. were flagged here by some NO posters, long before those slogans made it on to poles.

What do you mean? That some No posters spotted the inaccuracies/falsehoods in those statements or that some No posters were spreading those statements before they were put up on poles?

the latter. The pro-life side had their talking points worked out in advance.

I have to admit there have been occasions where i have not been calm and reasonable when the same poster asks the same question repeatedly and ignores the answers they are given.

Here is Justin Barret, saying, any doctor providing an abortion service, should get the death penalty. He doesn't see the irony of it. And the woman should be jailed for the 14 years.

Making him get the flight to London was probably lost on him.

    What a load of cobblers.

Abortion is cruel but letting a child be born with a terminal illness with the potential to be in incredible pain just so they can "live".

Dunno how the pro-life crowd justify that to themselves.

Another example of a No campaigner being economical with the truth.
“Unfortunately the only solution the committee [on the Eighth Amendment] has offered to anybody who is going through a crisis pregnancy is abortion and we all know there are alternatives,” she told reporters.

It was pointed out to Butler that the committee had in fact recommended expanding perinatal hospice care and that Minister for Health Simon Harris has already committed to taking action in that area, regardless of the outcome of the referendum.

Butler said that while that was welcome, “we would have to see the detail”. She also said that the impression she got from the committee was that “way more emphasis” was placed on abortion as a solution.

The alternative to abortion is to continue with the pregnancy and have the child.

If we compare the government's stance & supports to single mothers between now and 1983, the improvement is vast and wide ranging. From maternity leave, to discrimination legislation, to child benefit, the under 6 go scheme, lone parents benefit . . . There is no comparison between then and now . . .

Plenty of supports for the alternative have been put in place, though obviously there's room for improvement.

Still need to repeal the 8th though because sometimes not having the baby is the only solution.

She's also misrepresenting the remit of the Committee. It wasn't to make recommendations about options in crisis pregnancies; it was to review the constitutional ban on one of those options, in light of the Assembly's recommendations and the far-reaching consequences of that ban.

Their focus was on abortion, because that's the only option affected by the 8th. If other options were equally restricted by it, they'd have looked at those too.

Why not provide better hospice care for babies born with terminal illness AND allow women to choose to terminate the pregnancy before it gets to that point?

    Why not "Love Both"?

Just because you think something is a lie, doesn't mean it is a lie.

You conveniently failed over and over again to address the lies told by the pro-life campaign and in fact you tend to deflect when people challenge you on things you've said. There's been numerous times where you've tried to pass off your opinion as fact too, like the whole "stunt" debacle that backfired tremendously.
