I feel bad that nearly half of people voted this episode to be an 8 or above..have ye not seen any other tv shows before..even with this radical improvement its still very poor television relative to the other shows that are popular on tv.

Don't feel bad, it's not your fault babes.

For the record, when I rate an episode of TWD, I don't rate it against other TV shows (and yes I have watched many tv shows  ) I rate it against the other episodes within TWD seasons. So this got an 8 because compared to other episodes in the season, it was much better.

Especially since Season 7 took place over maybe a month or so, and the first half of Season 8 was just a few days.

While it's only been a couple of years since the whole thing started, yet Carl has gone from a fresh faced kid to a bearded teen in that time :pac::D

They need a serious cull of characters to make this show interesting. The new character in this episode doesn't seem interesting at all. Its go to the stage where I don't care who gets killed in it.

Yeh the show was much better at the start when there was only 9 or 10 characters
I vote enid for first sacrifice. Why are they even trying so hard to make her an important character? She's beyond dull and always just has a big sour puss on her face

The lesbian girl is annoying too tbh or at least the lines they give here are often very cringy. Theres just a lot of very unnecessary characters who contribute zero to the story

Yep. Not just two pointless characters, but they're both black holes of charisma.
Kill the good Father Gabriel too, and Maggie as she's served next to zero purpose the last session or two. Far too much deadwood in the show.

The 2 guys with that blonde lady. Sweet Christ were their attempts at humour utter crap.

It least some humour was attempted. Humour is something this show badly needs. Tara looked like a possible source until she became a pain the asre.

Well, I'm sure I remember her being funny a couple of times...

She's hardly the only PITA though, Maggie is another, Glen had become one, Morgan, Rosita, Jesus... The nearest thing to light relief is when Gregory tries to wheedle his way into the confidence of whichever side he thinks is more likely to keep him in a reliable supply of booze.

Meanwhile, I see the cryptic pseudo-arty stuff continues with the opening scene. And we still have conversational telepathy:

Simon: Do you want to stay and search or leave?
Dwight: (Flicks a cigarette onto the crash car's petrol)
    Simon: Good answer
This viewer: WTF? That wasn't an answer! Is there some ban against having the dialogue include simple answers to simple questions?

Dialogue opportunity missed: "Nice Negan impersonation you're aiming to do there, Maggie."

Still, not a bad episode, apart from how Rick's lousy aim with an AK47 at point blank range contrasts with his ability to know how to race down an alley at precisely the correct speed to hit a car he can't even see coming. I did laugh when I saw who was driving Negan at the end, having assumed, of course, that it was Rick. Good one. And now Negan knows why she's there. Oh dear, heh heh.

"Weellll....just look at you..." as Negan himself might say (while leaning backwards in a gravity-defying manner).

Simon is more enjoyable when he's not trying to channel Negan. His approach to handling the rest of the Saviours following Negan's "demise" was clever; how to take over without looking like you're taking over.

I naively thought that his suggestion that they "move on" meant just that, i.e. leaving Rick's group alone and just leaving. Silly me...
