I listen for any reply or for any music, noise of any description before entering through the door, sword drawn.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

    OOC: You're right.

Fargadras notices his arms feeling heavy, and the bow slips. The arrow fires into the ground near Rhiggy's feet.

'Oops! Sorry mister! If you guys would hurry up maybe it won't happen again!'

Despite the being's irritation at "music" the group cannot hear anything coming from the door, or from the passage revealed when it opens. Retula's raven's eyes glow a dark green and it speaks a short sentence to Retula the others cannot understand due to the words being distorted.

Brú Tríom jumps from his saddle and rolls into the sand streaming upward, before landing on the island.

The guards just stare at each other, one or two gulping at the sight before they rush forward and land on the island.

"I'm no expert? But I don't think good people say things like 'then I shall be unchained'? And I don't think good people chain up grody guys with no face and make them juggle hourglasses? I'm with Hetyaro on this - That door is bad news. Unless one you was thinking 'I'm gonna make a pact with something infernal' in which case it's excellent news because that's where that door goes?"

    Fargadras shrugs.

'I was gonna shoot mister no face till the drow decided to make nice with him. Wanna just kill him? I'm sure it would be fun and he's chained up right now!'

"You've not spent much time at slave markets, have you?" Therai snaps. "Plenty of good people get chained up there"

    Sarric asks "who is Hetyaro."

Sarric also shouts over to faceless in Infernal "Who tied you up and for what reason?"

It true that an ode to a chained slave would have some pathos however an ode to a freed slave, well now that is a story worthy of telling.

Fargadras laughs at the angry drow.

'Not a chance! Twas an accident, clearly!'

He reaches for another arrow, just in case but doesn't nock it.

Fargadras skips backwards, now nocking the arrow.

'Are we really going to be this foolish? I know you underdark folk are all about the killing and enslaving of the masses, but maybe not try chatting up the faceless dude and more stabby-stabby at him, and less at your party members?'

A voice very close to Fargadras's ear says "take the shot" in elvish over and over. It's totally not Retula, because she's like 25 feet away, with her bird?

    OOC: You first ;)

Fargadras looks around for this voice.

'I don't want to shoot him, but he's pointing a crossbow at me!'

    To Rhiggy:

'How about we both put up our weapons and kill faceless dude like friendly elves?'

if 6-10s (ie a round?) have gone by since the voices started egging this on, a 5' tall wall has appeared between the two, with the side facing the drow decorated with a picture of a beautiful blonde queen in a flowing blue dress flinging snowflakes around the place.

OOC : Was I too subtle? For **** sake, let it go.

Drow were arrogant, ambitious, sadistic, treacherous and hedonistic. From birth, drow were taught they were superior to other races and should crush those beneath them. Children who resisted and showed kindness or love were brutally punished, so as to beat the instinct for cruelty into them

Fargadras fires a fraction of a second quicker, his arrow landing in Rhiggy's side. However he immediately feels mind-numbing pain and passes out on the ground, rolling in agony before falling unconscious.

Seeing the greedy one slump to the ground, causes Sarric to react instead of thinking how he just ignored him when he asked him a question. His reaction is to assist.
Sarric kneels down beside the greedy one and performs some first aid on them.

    OOC: Dim light inside?

The passage within the doors is lined with bright gleaming crystal, it extends quite far, further than the depth of the island would allow, a passage to a demiplane.

Rhiggy looks about quickly, there is only the passage behind the door. The rest of the island is sparse in tree cover and the desert is bare to the morning sun.

However that passage is currently occupied by Brú, he would have to sprint past him without care deep enough into the passage to be unnoticed.

OOC: How wide is the passage?

I'm going to slowly start down it, if it's too narrow to pass I'll give Mags a little nudge forwards

Therai follows the others through the door.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,404 ✭✭✭✭sKeith

Sarric leaps off the island and back into the desert. He addresses the faceless creature in common, "Whom has chained you here, and why have you been imprisioned here? As for the price of a sandglass, I have a bag of spice I could offer you in exchange, really valuable stuff that. But I would require instructions on how to use the sandglass as part of the deal, two of our party has already been wounded on that crazy island of yours, does the place alter the mental states of those who enter it? If you have any power of healing, a potion or two, I would wish to purchase these from you too."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Unclear what exactly just happened or why the drow is running around trying to find something to crouch behind, Retula hunches down and passes a hand over the unconscious thief, muttering "Feitha y' re'na, re naa il desiel creos lle". (Cantrip : spare the dying, condition stabilised, healing is your problem). The raven takes wing, monitoring the situation from the air should any more shots be fired.

Mags, Brú and Therai follow the corridor deep into the islands interior, eventually it opens out into a large cave passage, which forks left and right.

To the left, a periodic bang on metal, very high pitched. Not quite musical as it is too monotonic.

To the right an incredible heat and the walls glow a shade of orange.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Retula takes a long look through the door.
"I know you don't want to go in, Hetyaro, But look at those stairs. I have to know! Come on! You know what happens to you if you don't so..." She taps her shoulder, then follows the others down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

I start left, sick of the heat already

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

Brú enters a room with a series of floating metallic cylinders, at the center of which is a being with a smile on its face. The being looks human facially, but roots have grown from his beard and feet and descend into the rock.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

"Hail sir, are you the source of the metallic clangs? What mifgt your name be, I go as Brú"

Does he bear any resemblance to the dude in the desert, and do the roots disappear into the rock or sprawl across the floor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

Glancing down Brú sees that roots almost drill into the rock. There is no real resemblance between the two beings, this one is a modified human, possibly a very advanced druid or something like a druid. The being outside is definitely not human or of any conventional race.

    The being doesn't answer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

I repeat myself in Druidic, while moving a little to the left, checking for any indication that he's paying attention to me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

The being lifts open its eyelids in a slow and deliberate manner that suggests they have been closed for a long time.

"Young one, you are early on the path, what have you come here for?"

OOC: Digi, you seem to like Druidic and Celtic stuff, so feel free to spice up this encounter as you wish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

I step forward, confidence bolstered by finding another druid

"I was sent forth by my clan. I know not my quest, nor where it takes me. The directions I was given were to travel forth to Zassan to learn, and when the time comes I might be able to protect my peoples.

You are Fili Rí are you not?"

    I bow my head

    OOC: Fili Rí = Archdruid

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

He smiles, though it seems to take great effort.

"That is what I am known as by many. Well, if they were to find me, truth is few know of me. Have you come seeking my teachings?"
