Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Absolutely ridiculous sh1te being spouted in there and in the forum in general.
    I remarked I needed a Sorento sized yoke for load lugging and someone said they could carry a dismantled bed in their i3 with the seats down or something.

    Free set of blinkers with every EV sold it seems.

    And in 10 years time if and when most new cars are EV they won't be the overpriced, woeful, crates of sh1t folk are buying now.

    If you can't afford a Tesla/ipace/etron, and dont want an Outlander PHEV, there is no current EV that can meet that requirement (ie sorento sized)

    If you post on or read that forum for 1 week you'll quickly see who spouts nonsense and who is realistic. I like to think I#'m the latter, at times anyway. :P (and I've sold my EV and am going back to diesel!)

    Any time I've peaked in there it's mostly blinkered non sense I'm seeing.
    And the thread Bazz linked to is absolutely full of it.
    Lads with the chests puffed out as they're driving the modern equivalent of a mark 3 escort and saving €20/week on petrol or diesel.

    There's a few blinded people in there alright.
    The savings are there to be had but there is not a full suite of EV right now and lots of people >100km, >150km etc there is no suitable car other than supermini sized Kona and Zoe.

    The longer range ones are too expensive and the cheaper ones are old and have 100km of range. Pathetic.

    I'm going back to bangernomics for the time being, I sold my Ioniq (which was a 526/mo payment) and will buy a cheap diesel on co2 tax and pay 300/mo max on diesel. If I can't save money on 50-60k per year mileage, with an EV, then who can?

    Just an FYI . Over 21k kms it's cost me €2200 at 38mpg............ I dunno what diesel you think will do 4000/5000 km / month for €300 to be honest.

    Most of them - that's somewhere in the region of 55 MPG.

    Perhaps I was a bit green in my calculations and it's going to be €350. But sure look it's still well less than 526!


    And 55mpg would be achievable in most motorway drives (which my commute is). Looking at a Volvo S40 later, 1.6 PSA lump (aware of the previous history)

    I have that engine in a Mk. II Focus - it'll do 60 MPG all day and all night on a motorway. Drove a 2009 Volvo V50 with the same engine while I was looking at cars just after Christmas, nice estate too but this one had heavy mileage at 151,000. Good luck, Chief.

    In fairness, I did say some over there carry on like vegans.

    And I still it funny, a rant about how everyone else is in denial just because they don't conform to their way of thinking. It just sounds like some throwing their toys out of the pram because nobody else agrees with them.

    I've done it in mark 4 fiestas, e61 tourings and even a rolls royce silver spur

    However the deal for the moment is bangernomics and an S40 1.6 diesel is right up the street, until I figure out what's next.

    Were they using their i3 to bring their broken up bed to an ex monk who runs and up cycling business inside an old derelict warehouse (which ironically was originally built to make combustion engines ) who doesn't accept money as payment but likes to be paid in hugs, karma and bespoke craft beer and refuses to wear socks as a two finger salute against conformity and the man ?

    GLE, X5 or Cayenne would be the right size but maybe 50% more than the Sorrento. Cheaper than Tesla, I pace etc.

    Seen a couple of new transit vans the LED DRLs that go the whole way around the headlamp actually look really nice as vans go freshens it up a lot. Think they are only on the 182-191 models.

    Yeah, the father in law had a 2015 one, gave endless trouble. The best thing about it was the roadside assist and warranty package.

    Traded in for a new Crafter in January. No guarantees the Crafter will be any more reliable :pac: but it's a savage looking van.

    My brother has a Sprinter and loves it. It's been faultless to be fair and he hacks the **** out of vans with heavy loads and loads of city driving. His transporter has had about 3 clutches in 500k km.

    hmm got 42k km from my fronts and the back ones still had thread on it, but one tyre got deformed and I changed back tyres at 43k km.

    Not bad for baby Cupra and i do have fun driving it. I guess it helps that 90% of my driving is Motorway/N roads.

    Funny thing is, a lot of these people who buy so called SUVs never thought about tyre sizes and prices. Being big bastards they eat rubber faster too.

    There's 19s on my sorento, at 40k kms the fronts will still be legal and the rears will have at least 4mm on them, likely 5 mm I expect.

    The reason I bought this particular one was due to the enhanced looks (IMO) the 19s offered :pac:

    Can of worms here,
    I loved Lego as a child, but the way they’ve gone now with specific bits makes them a bit like a **** self-build model car to me. I just don’t get it.
    Not a criticism of that car, but more of Lego in general. My son is around Lego age now, age he’s got a few of the small sets already, but they seem more restrictive than the ones that were out when I was his age.

You need to plan it out in advance, where's with normal bricks, you can just slap stuff together and see where it will get you. :)

    That's why I asked for this mustang set over Technic porches etc.

    Used to be big into LEGO Technic sets when I was younger built a lot of them. Also was even more into model trains but moved into a smaller house just before college and packed up all the stuff have about 5K worth will definitely get back into it when I get some space.

    On the tyres have 30K on the front ones on my A4 and thought I was doing really well 40k km is massive they are Kumhos and seem to be lasting well about 4mm left on them so a few K km left.

    Certain Topaz petrol stations are selling miles plus petrol and diesel for the same price as regular fuel. Got some this morning however the car was fairly full already so only got 20 litres in so the benefits will be diluted down but have a long drive this afternoon so will see if I notice any difference in fuel consumption or engine performance.

    The porsche set is incredible and very enjoyable to build. Built in stages almost like a real car. Chassis first, engine and gear box then the body. The little details are unreal. Working paddle gears, rear mounted engine with moving pistons etc. The box presentation and instruction booklet with history on the Porsche 911 GT3 is very good too!

    I'd recommend it if you're into lego and cars!

    It takes around 3 or 4 tank fulls before you start seeing the benefits so I doubt you'll notice any difference.

    Doesn’t the standard fuel claim to take you up to 3% further than standard petrol, so this Miles Plus is only up to 3% better than their own regular fuel?

    They say it’s better and gives more power because it cleans your engine, not because the fuel is more powerful.

    Snake oil.

    Yes I worked it out before and to cover the 7 cent extra per litre the difference needed to be substantial enough. Like it’s all the same petrol coming from whitegate refinery just a couple of additives added at a very low dilution right at the end of the process before it hits the truck same octane and all that. Still when it was the same price no harm getting it.

    I would be too mean to pay 7 cent extra per litre for petrol with the same octane rating :pac:

I was chatting to a Topaz delivery driver and he said very few of the Dublin based stations (where I would expect to find the greatest number of wasteful customers, myself included) were getting deliveries of Milesplus.

    No it’s on the radio and all special deal for this weekend only obviously only in stations that sell miles and miles plus fuel. Plus I am intelligent enough to be able to read miles plus vs miles off the sign and hose to realise they are different and not two of the same miles fuel :pac:

    Indeed....I tried it for 1000 miles.... zero improvement over standard apple green stuff.

    On a dirty yoke diptane probably a better option too IMO.

    Circle K are giving a free hit drink with a 25l+ fuel purchase until tomorrow BTW :)

    Drove a relations new model 191 ST-Line focus 1.0 ecoboost actually liked it more than I thought I would to drive the engine feels ok for 3 cylinder you can get the acceleration out of it but you do have to work it. Build quality is not hectic though paint is seriously soft covered in stone chips after a month and he would deliberately be careful keeping back from trucks etc.

    The panels are very light and bend with any kind of pressure. Then the worse part is it has serious suspension creaks and noises when driving it’s going in to get new modified drop links and ball joints with 6k km on it known issue apparently. So seems Ford have some serious creases to iron out on this new model.

    Yes think that spec is around 27k I would definitely be buying a new Leon facelift FR or Excellence 1.5tsi for basically the same money. Well actually if it was me I would put the extra money to it and buy an A3 S-Line saloon as it’s the best looking of them all by a mile.

    Looks small on the 17"s alright. They have a pack for ~€1300 that give's you 18" alloys, LED headlights and tinted windows. I only saw one listed on carzone with it though.

    Test drove the 1.0 St line it wasn't bad up to near 100 but needs to be worked. Liked the interior and it handles well. Would at least need to be able to get the 1.5 to consider it though. Being offered way less on trade in and the 5.9% pcp rate would added a bit over €4k to the cost to change was making it a definite non runner.

    Megane 1.3 130bhp I test drove was much better especially above 100 and it didn't have be worked anyway as hard.

    Neither are a patch on though VAG 1.5tsi even in 130bhp version in the Leon I drove it was much livelier. Can only get the 150bhp in the Leon with the automatic but couldn't find any of them to test drive. Only got to test a manual 150bhp in a Golf and it was good improvement. Only 1.5 DSG I could find to test was a T ROC. Hate the high seating position and wallowy handling but the engine left a very good impression on me.
