Tesla fatal accident

Well, the battery may have ignited, however with the described impact I doubt an ICE vehicle would fare much better TBH. He hit a central median and then was struck by other vehicles which ripped the front of the model x off. Regardless of the car being electric , this kind of accident was likely to result in some sort of pyrotechnics.
There is the usual question of whether or not the autopilot was on, but that will all come out in a later investigation.
Terrible thing to happen to anyone.

Tesla really does come under far more scrutiny than any other manufacturer. The Model X got a perfect NHTSA safety score, the first SUV to get it.

Poor driver was probably a gonner no matter what he was driving, but hopefully this event will result in better battery design and hopefully reduce the likelihood of fire.

Tesla battery pack fire, OK not in a Tesla vehicle and probably incorrectly installed, but does go to show how energy dense these batteries are and to treat them with respect!
