    did you buy it in Ireland
    You are covered under sale of goods act and can go the small claims court road if the company that sold it to you wont help

    Is the retailer in Ireland, as your contract is with them?

    It has always been the retailer that you go back to with out of warranty issues. I've had many domestic appliances repaired over the year (some free, others paid for) and it has always been a repairman arranged by the retailer.

    Consumer law covers the contract between the purchaser and the retailer. Unfortunately, it doesn't really cover the relationship between the purchaser and the manufacturer.

    I think that would have to be covered off under some other aspect of law. Probably worth a discussion in the Legal Discussion forum to explore what options exist between you and the manufacturer.
