Hi - just wondering if Blacknight can host .NET Core applications running with SQL Server databases? I had a quick look  at your hosting options on your site and it mentions .NET mvc but not .NET Core.

    Thanks.

    Hi Some_randomer,

Yes, we can certainly host .NET Core applications.

While it is technically possible to setup .NET Core on our shared hosting platform, its very restrictive. So we would highly recommend opting for one of our Cloud servers.

    Thanks,
    Niamh.

Thanks Niamh, can you also do NoSql dbs like MongoDB and Couchbase, etc.?
Also what's the difference between your shared hosting platform and your Cloud server? Do you have your own "Cloud" as such or do you piggy-back on Amazon or another provider?

Hi - sorry for the delay!

You can install NoSQL DBs, or any application you like on a Cloud Server. It gives you full administrative control to a virtual machine (VM) running your choice of a range of Linux or Windows operating systems.

Cloud servers also have dedicated resources: RAM, storage, connectivity and virtual CPUs, that you can add or remove as required. Shared hosting, on the other hand, is exactly that: 'shared' among other users, who are all restricted to a standard set of applications and libraries. Cloud VMs may share physical infrastructure with other VMs but, unlike shared hosting, they are isolated from each other so that they do not affect each others performance.

And yes, we have our own cloud. All our Cloud servers are Virtual Machines running on servers in our data centres in Carlow and Dublin.

Hope this helps. For more information see the FAQs on this page https://www.blacknight.com/cloud-hosting/ or select one of the cloud plans and explore the configuration options. If you have more questions feel free to ask them here, or contact our sales team on phone, email or live chat https://www.blacknight.com/contact/

    Thanks,
    Conn
