Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

City are playing like a team who have had it their own way for far too long and came into this game thinking "more of the same so..." up against a very well drilled, well organised and attack minded team playing without fear. Hats off.

Imagine how good they’d be if they took Milner off the pitch

Heading towards 9-0 for Liverpool at this rate.

How that wasn't a yellow for Jesus is baffling

Tie far from over,it's Liverpool after all

You think City are going to turn this around?

    Taking pity on them.

We are murdering the greatest team that ever played in English football.

    We're murdering Liverpool cira 1977 ?

City look lost. They are too used to teams being scared of them and not putting them under pressure. Hopefully Liverpool really put them to the sword now and put 5 or 6 past them. They are destroying them.

Chamberlain was greedy there. A definite 4th goal was on.

Same for Otemendi's body check on Mane early on.

Anfield on a European night doesn't affect players.

People saying tie over and it's not even half time in the first leg , I'm still backing city to qualify , it's Liverpool ffs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,610 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

You go at Man City and you'll create chances. Fair play to Liverpool that's twice they have done it now. Tie is far from over though, City are very capable of getting a couple yet.

Loving the game so far. Liverpool's press is brilliant.

See what Pep's worth now in the 2nd half.

His team totally outclassed so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,954 ✭✭✭garra

I know its 3 nil but we could do with another goal before half time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,725 ✭✭✭✭blueser

Die Hard on Film4 at 9. We could do with John McLean tonight. Or, at least, I could do with Bonnie Bedelia!

Milner has been immense in this game!!

If Kompany weren't playing, it could be much more than 3 to Liverpool.

Milner has been sensational so far. What a pro.

Awesome game. I hope we can keep up this intensity for the 2nd half.

They boo every time City have the ball. Bit odd.

TV3 are praying that you don't. They are covering the second leg. Might end up showing a re-run of Brendan Grace Live. It'll get more viewers.
Hopefully Jose tears into this City team on Saturday now.

What difference does that make to you? If they don't win the league on Saturday, they'll win it next time out.

One of the best first half performances I've seen. Great to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,926 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

And Barca are winning 1 nil against Roma from an OG.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,725 ✭✭✭✭blueser

Looking on the bright(ish) side; at least we can now play a full strength side on saturday evening.

    :(

Not sure tonight's a night for watching guys get slaughtered. Might have to switch over to Die Hard.

Are you seriously comparing Mourinho's approach to that of Klopp?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,695 ✭✭✭✭osarusan

Brilliant first half from Liverpool, really intense in their pressing, but disciplined and avoided the hefty tackles and silly yellow cards that so often accompany that aggression.

City simply haven't been able to handle it, and look like they thought it was just a short spell of intensity that would pass without needing to adapt to it.

I do agree with other posters that Liverpool will probably run out of steam, but that's a price worth paying for a 3-0 lead.

lol no just hoping they give you a game and your players want to win the league and wear themselves out a bit more.

Great first half, but Liverpool still need to prove they can hold their nerve. They were here before against Seville and City, match & tie is far from over

TAA not been that much of a liability like some here predicted

Robertson's been the best player on the pitch for me. He's killing City with his runs from deep and they don't know what to do with him. The way Milner is covering from him gives him free reign and he looks like a world-beater out there.

    Yes, I would say so.
