Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Losing Salah has seriously upset Liverpool's game. It's a massive loss, psychologically as well.

Barca into Sf courtesy of 2 ogs and a pique tap in

Real and Barca have their work done. Ditto for Liverpool but others will disagree with me on that. Thought Real was brilliant last night. They've won three out of the last four CLs. People seem to forget that.

Sane’s final ball is hopeless tonight. City really starting to dominate now though. Be good to see them score just to make a game of it in the second leg.

It's not just Salah though, there's been a clear tactical switch from Liverpool, defending deeper, and the midfield not getting anywhere near as involved in the press.

They seem to be just hitting perfect form at the right time.

They made a decent Juve look very poor last night.

Liverpool are deep but City aren't looking a threat like they normally do. Aguero much missed.

All the pace has gone out of the game and it's suiting City. They've much more time and space on the ball.

What did Klopp say at halftime?

They don't look the same team (even when Salah was still on pitch).

The more I see, the more I think Zidane is an absolutely brilliant manager.

This is the Liverpool v Man City thread. Not the general Champions League thread. Thanks for spoiling the game for those of us that want to watch the highlights later without knowing the score.

Is it me or do City still look off the pace? Something missing in their play tonight. Watched them against Everton at the weekend and they were so sharp and aggressive with the ball in the first half. Seeing none of that tonight.

We have to do more to hold possession, they’ll punish us if we keep handing back the ball to them. The only way to play these is not give them a minutes peace

Three goals is enough for tonight seems to be the verdict by Klopp based on that substitution. Hope he’s right.

Tbh Salah going off might be a blessing in disguise(if not seriously injured) Class class player but adding Wijnaldum in sures them up a little bit. 3-0 up, it's a change Klopp would never make bar an injury

.... who'll get the boot if Madrid don't win the CL.

Yup, they're allowed to attack now, and actually still being pretty easily dealt with by Liverpool. VVD makes such a difference back there. Every ball in the air gets won by a red shirt, so they're having to try and run through 8 players to even get aa shot off.

Everton sat back. Liverpool didn't and it rattled City. I know people will argue otherwise but I think it's that simple.

    That explains a lot.

Easy to look great when you play a team that has no interest in playing against you.

    High foot red card?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,050 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Pep really hasn't done anything special outside of Barca.....for a football genius he has taken some bad beatings with expensively formed teams he's managed at Munich and Man City.

Karius hasn't had to make a save and we're at 75 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,926 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Jesus should be sent off by now not getting his first yellow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

    That should be Jesus off.

And City should be ashamed of that stat.

Karius hasn't had to make a save and we're at 75 minutes.

It's unreal. Everything in this game - so far - has been so perfectly managed by Klopp. City always having to react to what Liverpool are doing. Trying to stop the flood in the first half, and now trying to batter down a defensive wall second half. Klopp's just conceded possession entirely now, quite happily, seemingly confident City won't be able to dribble through the sheer number of bodies, with anything in the air dominated by 'pool players.

City should nearly go unconventional at this stage and throw Kompany up top. Look for knockdowns in dangerous areas.

Penderson excels at sideways and backwards 5 yard passes. He is so good at them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Both teams starting to look a bit tired.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,679 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Solanke and wijnaldum have been poor since coming on. It's a pity lallana is always injured. His craft would be welcome here.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,046 ✭✭✭Berserker

City seem to want an age on the ball but they are not going to get that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

    Harsh yellow for KDB there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 678 ✭✭✭beya2009

We literally cannot string a pass together.

Sane having a mare. Lots of possession but doing nothing with it. TAA has been excellent though.

Do not let that ball out of play if moreno is coming on!

It is only that simple if you have the players to do it though, if most teams try it, they'll be cut to pieces.

Liverpool have the players to do it.

No different to the first goal there on that offside.

    Henderson you dope!

Sterling should be off for kicking out. Little swine.

    Moreno is on.......

The LAST player Liverpool need on defensively.

    Don't think that was offside

I think he's on offensively? In that he has offended us by coming on

Looked less conspicuous than the Salah first goal tbh.

F**k, Moreno’s on. I’m going behind the sofa for the remainder of this.

Referee has had a very good game. Noticeable improvement over the Premier League refs. Easy to see why none of them are going to the World Cup.
