Primary router can see behind the Secondary router but not vice versa.
the secondary router is a VPN Router; it has an IP in the Primary router range but it has DHCP enabled to hand out IPs to machines on it. the WAN port of the Secondary router is connected to the LAN port of the Primary router.

what do i need to complete to get the Secondary router to see the network (ping, RDP etc) of the machines on the Primary router?

Give it a route to the primary, if RIP isnt doing it (which evidently its not).

Where did you get RIP from?

    ok... got sorted...
we just put the 2nd router between the primary router and the switch and will let no one on the network behind the primary switch. some users are using Wifi onto the primary but they wont need access to the network behind this, just internet access.
its not the solution i was looking for but it makes our network a little tighter.
