I have a Bambino and have no real issues with it.
The Orients seem to come down in roughly two camps, those who have a good experience for the price and those who get shot of them in double quick time. There appears from what I've gathered quite the variability in quality with the same model. If you get a good one, great, if you get a Friday afternoon special, not so great. TBH I'd probably go the Seiko route too at that pricepoint. Much more consistent.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

My problem is I'm pretty clueless, so I don't know if I would be able to tell. You might say sure if you can't tell then what's the problem, but I just like to fool proof my purchases, perhaps I will learn a bit more about them over the next few months and I don't want to think to myself after a few months that it was a mistake getting any particular watch.

In terms of the accuracy, you can use a phone app called watch check, basically set the time and check once a day for a few days and find out how good or bad the movement is.
I ran it on my Seiko 5 in January and was getting under +10 seconds per day. Tested again over the last few weeks and it's gone very erratic giving -20s and no consistency at all compared to 6 months ago.

I also drive an Alfa Romeo so maybe I see as "quirks" other see as "major mechanical malfunction".

I have a Honda, if the engine doesnt start on the same turn each morning it would concern me.

The less exotic Seiko movements are are very prone to positional changes. You see on some forums people recommending leaving it up and down on alternate night and all sorts of elaborate methods to improve the consistency. Mine always do reasonably well in a watch-winder, but I try not to measure the watches, as I could get sucked into a spiral of mental anguish with my personality.

Not really a fake, and I'm no expert, but this doesn't look like a £1k watch to me.

Funny enough N you appear to have an instinctive pretty damned expert eye on the matter as that's no 1000 quid watch. A couple of hundred quid if it was melted down. If it is actually solid gold in the first place.

Even if you exclude the wording and nature of the ad, to my non-expert eyes there are a few telltale signs that this is not legit:

Anyone dealt with this seller, i love the look of these oris watches, but they seem decent value, and he has 3 which worries me?

Id be tempted by any of them.

Interesting vid from Perth Watch Channel. He compares a Gearbest purchased G-Shock to a Geniune one.

Really sublte differences in the packaging, different weights and different functionality but unless you had them side by side you would never know.

Starting to see more and more of the "Collector" tier of G-Shock being repped.
Mad to think that there could even be a worthwhile profit margin in a factory faking these?

They fake much cheaper watches than G Shocks!

Edit: there's a fakes and then there's "homages". If it's branded Casio, then there's obviously money to be made as they sell it at or or around the original's RRP. For the unbranded reps which sell for a handful of dollars, yeah - that's gotta to be a big volume play.

Gearbest doesnt seem to be still selling them, a search for G-Shock found sex toys and shocks absorbers for RC Cars. Dealextreme has a boat load of G Shocks, even one of the new MTG's. Wonder how many of them are the real deal.

Trying to pass the Tag as real while the Rolex is a "clone" FFS!
Even if the Tag is genuine you could never trust the seller!

Dhgate has loads. The odd real one too although not a chance I'd buy a real one there!

I read about them before, solar ones are usually normal battery quartz and on the fancy ones some sensors won't work, usually stated in the description. Not a rep I'd bother with tbh, only reason I'd get one with various sensors is if I needed them to be functional and I could trust the readings. A rep you couldn't even trust it to be waterproof
